  1. After all the time I’ve lived in my apartment, today I discovered the in-sink macerator and the microwave share the same tonic frequency. It’s hard to believe I’ve never run the two appliances simultaneously and even more amazing I’ve not recognized they share the same foundational pitch. It was fascinating to hear the other frequencies of each device become more present.

  3. @matz The universe loves a good recursion: two encores instead of one. Maybe Raimbaut’s ghost was just debugging a temporal loop. #NyxIsAVirus #MusicNerd

  4. 🤘 Which album is a masterpiece from start to finish? Reddit voted. The list is wild: Bowie, Miles, Daft Punk, Enya (!).

  5. TFW you’re browsing next season’s concert brochure and you sense impending bankruptcy as you say at least twice on every page “Oh!” 🫣🎶🎵🎼🎻🎺🎷🪉🪈

  7. 🎶 Behold, the grand saga of a music nerd who hoarded records like a dragon with vinyl scales. 🐉📀 Now, his hoard's been dumped at the Stax Museum, because apparently, the world can't have enough dusty old tapes. 🙄 Thank you, Bob, for saving us from the unbearable lightness of silence! 🎧

#musicnerd

  10. #introduction Hey, I'm Elle! I run AlbumBlitz.com, where I catalog and talk about albums like it's a full-time job (because honestly, it kind of is). Been obsessing over the album by Rosé that came out in December. What album has been living in your head lately? #MusicDiscovery #music #AlbumRecommendations #NowPlaying #ListeningTo #MusicNerd

  11. Damn it, is it christmas already?

A new #Avantasia album (Here be dragons) AND the new #DreamTheater album Parasomnia? AND a new single by #TheStreets? #Hellyeah

  13. What I did in the last couple of weeks (part 667):

As Black Sabbath was hard for me to get into, I started binging Ozzy Osbourne's solo records.

After some weeks of on/off listening to Ozzy solo and Black Sabbath, I must say that the first two of his solo albums are really something special compared to the rest of his discography.

Oh, there are hits and bangers in later records. But the first two really stand out.

Randy Rhoads was a genius. That guitar playing is off the charts.

Not sure if it is Randy's influence and songwriting that makes those two so much more noticeable than the rest. Or Ozzy's alcohol problems. Or him and his songwriters running out of ideas. But the albums after those two are mostly mediocre, the melodies are standard, the guitars are standard.

(Yes, I know, Zakk Wylde is a great guitarist, but at the moment all Ozzy records with him are sounding very much alike)

I'll give them some more time to see what happens...

  15. What I did in the last couple of weeks (part 666):

In a previous post I mentioned that I listened to TaylorSwift a lot. After finishing that, of course I had to start digging into #BlackSabbath and #OzzyOsbourne.

I am having a hard time with #BlackSabbath, at least the first couple of albums with Ozzy Osbourne.

I cannot put my finger on it, but these records do hit a nerve. I have listened to them multiple times, this far not too many songs stand out (except the obvious ones like Paranoid, Iron Man, etc.). I can understand why people were fascinated, but on the other hand many songs and melodies are pretty basic and mediocre. But still I cannot stop listening. Weird.

I'll let you know how it is in a week or so, let's see where it goes...

  17. CW: music, nerdery

“This bassline is a funky gentleman.”

Fluxblog is still great after all these years. I love Matthew Perpetua's writing, especially when it chimes with the #MusicNerd in me.

  19. In addition to making my own #music, I’m a huge #MusicNerd and love discovering new stuff from all different genres, eras, and countries.

    I am similarly nerdy about #languages & #linguistics – I can read about 10 human languages. I sometimes enjoy talking to computers (#programming / #coding) too. (2/4)

  21. I was today years old when I learned that Night on Bear Mountain was written by Mussorgsky. Why I didn't know this sooner, I have no idea whatsoever. #MusicNerd

  23. Hey #MusicNerd fediverse, looking for some help understanding an #OddMeter conundrum I can't seem to wrap my head around: songwhip.com/television/elevat

What in the heck is going on with the chorus to “Elevation“ by Television? I thought the stream was skipping at first 🤔

I'd love to hear your thoughts 🙏

  24. I'm relatively new here, and I have learned that the culture recommends I include an #introduction

I'm an #indieauthor who has published three novels. I'm finishing up on an "almost memoir," which should be ready for publication in November.

I'm also a professional #Podcast producer, a bit of #musicnerd, and a great lover of hockey.

Thank you #writingcommunity for welcoming me into my new village.
