***Mamman Sani Abdoulaye***

[Bandcamp bio]:
Mamman Sani Abdullaye is a legendary name amongst Niger's avant garde. A pioneer of early West African electronic music, for over 30 years his instrumentals have filled the airwaves.

[ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamman_Sani ]:
Mamman Sani Abdoulaye is a Nigerien-Ghanaian musician. He first recorded his electronic organ music in 1978 but it remained largely obscure and undiscovered until 2013. He is considered to be an early pioneer of synth music in Niger. Sani found unlikely fame in Denmark, regularly appearing in the playlist of Copenhagen bars.

Now this is the weird shit that I love 'jazz' to be.

Or in more professional terms '"a masterpiece that blends Afro-rhythms and harmonic conceits with improvisation of the freest kind, near-classical microtonalism"

We are many.

How can you love two artworks as different as Whit Stillman's The Last Days of Disco and Jason Mraz's We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. at the same time?

Maybe it's proof that each of us holds many people inside — wildly divergent in taste, in how they see the world.
A little essay in the thread below 🧵
