Can anyone tell me why there are no big artists on Bandcamp? I wanted to use it as my main app for listening to music but many artists I like are not on there… I heard that their labels prevent them from putting their music on Bandcamp. But that doesn’t make sense to me. Selling music on Bandcamp is financially better for artists and labels than streaming services like Spotify, right?

Please #musicians be careful, look twice before signing a contract with a #musicLabel, even when it is an "Indie" label.

The Chilean musician Brous One (who will be kinda featured in my radio show tonight - see first pinned comment on my profile) describes in the accompanying text on Bandcamp, how terrible he was ripped of by his label Vinyl Digital (btw. I just realize, that's a German "Indie" label - or should I say "German musicians rip off enterprise?").

"[…] contract […] letting them exploit all my past and future releases (around 200 tracks at that time), allowing them to collect royalty rights to my music for up to 70 years even after my death and blocking my freedom to work with other publishers. […]

contract was for life, so it didn’t have a termination date […]

never got billed, several tracks were not or falsely registered. […]

publisher asked for a payment of 1000 Euros to provide a document that certified the termination of our contract […]

After a long back-and-forth and two legal instances, […] the Court confirmed that my termination of the contract was appropriate and legal […]

This is a #NIGHTMARE. And I am so angry when people are ripped of like that. Fuck you to any label doing that.

and if possible, support him by buying that album (it's really well done jazzy instrumental hiphop which sounds like its entirely based on samples. But look at the credits, most things are played by real musicians just for this album!).
