For those who aren’t aware of how much I enjoy inhaling #music…which is pretty much all of you because I don’t talk to a lot of you!…
My method of finding new music is to favorite/follow genre playlists, trending playlists, non-trending playlists, playlists I find recommended online by others; basically anything and everything that catches my eye. The goal is to have a playlist on while I’m doing menial tasks so I can save the songs I like and skip the ones I don’t.
Unfortunately what tends to happen is I focus entirely on whatever I’m doing at the time, missing out on entire songs and short playlists sometimes, or I focus on speed-listening and speed-adding songs. I don’t think multitasking is real!
All-in-all on #Spotify I currently have:
- My general “Liked” playlist with just over 2k songs of all genres;
- Around 40 rotating playlists “For Review” of various genres. This year it looks like I need to listen to more #disco, #hip-hop, #ambient, and #reggae music;
- 12 “Background Music” playlists, some custom and some pre-made;
- 10 custom-made “Personal” playlists for music practice, some random projects and such.
It’s an interestingly organic way of finding artists that I genuinely like, because unless I recognize the song or the style of the artist, I rarely remember who made the songs I like until I sort through By Artist and see a stack of names.
… I love writing huge posts! How do y’all do with finding/listening to new music? #Music #Musician #MusicProduction #MusicAddict #Musicphile
