  1. In my talk ‘Museum criticism for hackers’ at #38C3, I looked at the history of the online collection of the State Museums Berlin, talked about major turning points in digital collections and about a software called GOS developed by the museums in the 20th century.

The talk is an invitation to participate in the critical development, opening and reflection of digital collections, for example by supporting open knowledge networks such as #Wikidata

The talk was in German, but you can listen to the live translation to English and Portuguese. Links to all the versions, on the CCC server and on Youtube:

  2. By way of #introductions I'm an Australian public historian working in the #heritage sector in #Belfast #NorthernIreland / the North of #Ireland. You can find my more active instance @[email protected]

I am particularly interested in #VernacularHistory, #microhistory, and #OralHistory. I am currently overseeing two projects funded by the NL #HeritageFund here in the UK:

Stories on the Estate a community led history of the Twinbrook housing estate in Belfast.

Our Stories - Our Times an oral history of the British Red Cross' work in Northern Ireland from the Troubles to today.

I've got background projects going on #colonial #Sydney, early C20th Belfast #museology, and amateur #football in Belfast. I haven't much connection back to the heritage sector in Aus and am looking to Mastodon to bridge that.
