There is zero guarantee that any #software will be supported forever regardless of #FLOSS status. It's just a lot easier for someone else to revive that software if it's FLOSS. We've seen numerous examples of abandoned closed-source tools that haven't or couldn't be revived; how would that even work.

So I call your reason BS. The more likely reason is that FLOSS #governance isn't all that fun, and #Murmel forks could erode income. If so, why not just admit that?
