I have been making more pickles, and got some super tiny 6mm tubing (they didn't have 8mm). These little pickles are gonna be much better for hiding on small trees- or for expert pickle finders.

I made the first one two years ago for my Mee Maw when her christmas pickle broke when her tree fell over and she couldn't find a small replacement one. The bigger replacement was so easy to find in the pickle hiding game, that she opted instead to use the old broken one for a few years.

I made another neon doodle I have been wanting to make for awhile. A mini rasta doodle.
Blacklight is notoriously difficult (and expensive) but sorta fun when you get used to it. Of course Emerald, a usual nemesis of mine, was acting up. I shouldn't have left behind the imperfection from the emerald cracking the first time.
Long story short it isn't the kiln pumped 9 headed coil of black and colorful spikes that I wanted- but I did learn a few things. I want less green. Perhaps un-coated (transparent) emerald, or if I can find a larger diameter of emerald. I also want to use Saffron- the golden shade of yellow tubing instead of the easier to work with Sunflower. The saffron will make it more challenging, but a better warm white in the end. And bigger red sections.

Yes it costs $18/to get in, but there is a DJ and I hear free drinks too. La suite de la visite, dans les ruelles on trouve de nombreux drapeaux vénitiens, des commerces qui vendent des porchetta et fromages locaux, beaucoup de vitrines artistiques (sculptures en verre de Murano).
The rest of the visit, in the alleys we find many Venetian flags, shops selling porchetta and local cheeses, many artistic windows (Murano glass sculptures).

Spent my Easter eating a delicious Danish Kringle with Ali and then made this doodle.
I am excited, its forbidden in a few ways. One of which is the tube sizes, which are fine tuned for brightness. That big bright white 25mm tube is thin lead glass- and it would take awhile to get it as hot as the 10 mm #blacklight tube, which will be made brighter by being the narrowest, most focused part of the arc.
On a bombarder, that would suck the narrow blacklight in. It is possibly the best combination to be bombarded in terms of glass heat sensitivity- buut I have an oven, so its baking out over night so I can make this the first try guaranteed :).
Hooray for Easter! After Minneapolis, I needed a day to sleep, and I still should send some emails, but I wanted to relax, and I feel recharged, -but there is about to be so much commercial bending.

On a bombarder, that would suck the narrow blacklight in. It is possibly the best combination to be bombarded in terms of glass heat sensitivity- buut I have an oven, so its baking out over night so I can make this the first try guaranteed :).

Spent my Easter eating a delicious Danish Kringle with Ali and then made this doodle.
I am excited, its forbidden in a few ways. One of which is the tube sizes, which are fine tuned for brightness. That big bright white 25mm tube is thin lead glass- and it would take awhile to get it as hot as the 10 mm #blacklight tube, which will be made brighter by being the narrowest, most focused part of the arc.

I finally made a super sour loaf! Bread 15B came from a stiff (acetic acid) starter and sat in the fridge for about a week with a bunch of time out of the fridge to age an have its delicious bacteria from just right. I added olives an pecans to it with wheat germ around the outside. The bread is flavorful enough to hold it's own against the olives!
Though I would also share some work projects- the "No 79" is going to some fancy Manhattan development and will be outside, with housings. Should look good- and with 3 bars on the ground floor of this new residential building, I may actually go see my work when it's installed an have a drink :) Big ruby numbers- it WILL be seen.
All that and the "ANCY"- a test for this new Spielberg movie was 1 days work (along with some email sending). Got to fix another piece of neon to an "NYC Institution" today- Trash and Vaudville.
Although I have never actually been- I did find a photo of where the neon goes online- looks like near the back of the store.
This one was "natural" tube death from sputtered electrodes. They used super tiny electrodes, which run hot and flake off their metal from the electrons running into them. This also reduces the pressure in the tube leading to even more sputtering. Those old blackened shiny electrodes have been on and sputtered for awhile. Probably about a decade or two or even more.
I fixed it by replacing its electrodes, repumping it, and repainting. Took me one hour.
I replaced the electrodes for ones with the shells twice as big. Should be good for decades more. Fixing red neon tubes brings a strange satisfaction, especially when they are ruby red.
