Come on out to Resistor holiday market today until like 5 or 6. Downtown Brooklyn is a snowy winter wonderland and it's nice an warm and cozy up here at Resistor. Oh an there are a bunch of makers an crafters with their things that you can buy!

Enjoy the snow! I shall be selling pickles, and if you really want, neon lights. Oh an you can pick through the pickles in person and find the ideal one for hiding on a tree. Resistor has a ballpoint pen I can use to personalize your pickle tag!

I have been making more pickles, and got some super tiny 6mm tubing (they didn't have 8mm). These little pickles are gonna be much better for hiding on small trees- or for expert pickle finders.

The listing on their webstore claims they are 2 inches, however some of these new pickles are even smaller and better for hiding.

Someone asked on one of my bountiful flame harvest days why the pickles I make aren't shiny at first. I explained that the cucumbers have to be "pickled" (with silver) to become shiny ;)

I made a video on how I bent this Fallible Luv thing I have been wanting to make for so long. It's nice an bright, and I bent it with my own fallible human hands.

I used to think human fallibility was a negative way of looking at the world, but now I think it's a good thing. Rationality is sometimes boring.

Hey this tube has no neon in it- just Argon gas and a drop of mercury :). I did use neon electrodes though- so I guess that makes it neon?

Snagged some photos of the two "N"s after pumping them (but before dipping in black paint). You can see the glass and electrodes get pretty toasty on that bombarder- basically overpowering the tube to heat it up- all the impurities are burned off an sucked out. When the molecules left behind cool off- they contract- making the vacuum even better in the tube before the argon is added :).

Not too much difference in the ANs. I guess I could have made them the same in hindsight. Ah well, it's all up now in the castle- working to set the fancy vibes to sell the fancy things to the fancy folks. And I am on the other side of the country North of Seattle, headed deep in the woods to Pilchuck Glass School :).

I got to use my cheap-O ZVS driver induction heater today. Been making some crackle tubes for an artist named Daniel Tepper. The crackle tubes are fun, real lighting in a bottle. I heat them with a weak, gentle transformer and use the induction heater help heat the electrodes (Activating a getter and helpful alkali coating).

I think I will make some more of this classic special effect
