#genealogy rabbit hole this morning: Alfred Heinrich #Loock from #Bocholt, the guy who owned the house in #Münstertal, in which my grandma's sister lived and worked in. Apparently, his aunt was a girlfriend of the later German chancellor Joseph #Wirth. I love these connections!

After spending nearly the whole #April2026ConnectAThon in #Münstertal, I had to type the words Obermünstertal and Untermünstertal A LOT. Only now, two weeks later, I remembered that I could add the shortcuts "omt" and "umt" into the Auto Text Expander browser extension. That would have saved soooo many keystrokes. But it will save them now! Let's hope there are not that many words containing "omt" or "umt" ...

After creating 110 profiles during #April2026ConnectAThon, out of which probably 100 carried the surname #Pfefferle, out of which the majority lived in #Münstertal, I was finally able to triangulate the parents of Philippina Pfefferle, who first lived with one cousin in #Burbank, #California, for a few years, before she moved to another cousin in #Orange, #NewJersey, whom she eventually married 30 years later. It also turned out, that the cousin she married, actually was adopted into the family.

@achimreinke naja mein persönlicher Anwendungsfall ist eher unabhängig von Katastrophen und Kriegen:

Ich bin oft im Wald bei #Bollschweil und #Münstertal unterwegs und dort gibt es viele Funklöcher. Mit Hilfe von #MeshCore kann ich trotzdem mit meiner Familie kommunizieren und sie wissen lassen, dass alles in Ordnung ist.

Aber ja, die Idee ist auch, unabhängig vom Internet und dem Mobilfunk-Netz kommunizieren zu können.

Langsam aber sicher trudelt meine MeshCore-Hardware ein. Drei WisBlocks sind schon als Repeater programmiert. Jetzt warte ich noch auf Solarpanel und Antennen, dann werde ich die Teile mal provisorisch an ihre zukünftigen Orte hängen und den Empfang testen.

Nachdem ich diesen Thread gelesen habe, bin ich froh, mich nicht für Meshtastic entschieden zu haben:

Hier heute früh der #Belchen, gesehen von leerer Straße im #Münstertal aus, kurz vor 06:00 Uhr.

Mit ein paar mehr Kurven kann man viele Berge aneinander hängen.

Ich war dann mal noch in #Todtnau, auf dem #schauinsland, dem #geiersnest. Training für die nächste #Langstrecke.
