Both #Munsters and Addams Family are notoriously difficult to get right.
Even when the original casts are involved it isn't guaranteed to be a hit.
But recasting is an even bigger risk. You don't have the charm of their beloved actors to fall back on if the story is weak.
With that in mind, I had rock bottom expectations for 1995's TV movie "Here Come The Munsters".
To my surprise, the new cast is pretty good: Edward Herrmann (no, seriously, that's his last name) and Veronica Hamel make for a terrific Herman and Lily. While Robert Morse doesn't quite look the part, he does a pretty serviceable Al Lewis impression.
Even Eddie and Marylin work well, here.
The plot isn't the greatest (they never are), but it's not terrible: the Munster clan immigrate to America to get away from "the villagers" and have to stand up to over the top conservative bigotry. I'm not even joking. (Marylin's father has gone missing, too.)
This was a surprising one.

We were talking a few days ago about the #Munsters and #AddamsFamily and there was a character I couldn't remember the name of. Two days later, at dinner, with no context whatsoever, I blurted out "Pugsley!" Unfortunately, the moment had very much passed by then. #ADHD
