Walking to Loch Toll an Lochain in the corrie nestled beneath the ridge of An Teallach. Of the three walks when I was staying in Dundonnell, I think this was my favourite. A gorgeous day, a remarkable landscape, and not a soul around. It was somewhere rather special. A brilliant place for lunch!

A walk up An Teallach in May. But not to the top. Because I looked at the drop and then the climb to the first munro, and thought, "nah, not today..."! (I have climbed it before - the whole ridge!)

Another little #webmapping project with #leaflet (mostly) finished and blogged
https://tlohde.com/blog/2025/04/bagging/
I'm not sure if hiking motivates me to poke around with #maps and data more than poking around with maps and data motivates me to go hiking.
Image taken a week ago at our camp in between Chno Dearg and Stob Coire Sgriodain.

This is a view of the snowy Cuillin range here on Skye. Although over 20 miles away from us they are a powerful presence. There are 12 Munros in there.
Munros in Scotland are mountains 3,000 ft (914.4m) or over.
“There are in total 282 Munros across Scotland. The highest Munro is Ben Nevis at 4,411 ft (1,345 m), though there are lower, but arguably more challenging Munros to climb, such as the 12 airy peaks of the Black Cuillin on Skye..”

Navigating by compass in the mist across a featureless shoulder, peat groughs and patches of sheet ice meant a straight line was impossible.
I've been playing this game for 40-something years, professionally since 2010, but when the mist thinned and my target ridge appeared dead ahead, it's still a wow! moment.
Still got it haha. 🗻

Another overnight with Moray, Maoile Lunndaidh above Glen Carron. A long walk in and out, whichever route is taken, from Craig it's a good track to the foot of the hill.
Definitely autumn now, dark soon after 7 & not light til 7. Cooking and eating by head torch, but nice enough to sit outside the tent & listen to the stags roaring. Great to get a couple of days summer conditions in October.
And that is Moray now photographed on all his Munros. -

From earlier in the week:
Sgùrr na Lapaich was included on Munro's original list, but was subsequently demoted and is now just a top of Màm Sodhail. But it's a great hill in its own right, and at 3½km along the ridge from Màm Sodhail there's a good argument for reinstating it.
We took our time as it was a hot day, and spent a while snoozing on the summit.
