Another Friday night, another evening of shitty drivers driving recklessly. Cutting 15 seconds off your commute is not worth injuring or killing another person.
Worst driver I saw today: A black Jeep cutting over to drive down the light rail tracks—which are separated by cement guards on the Embarcadero—in order to zip past a block of backed-up traffic. Take mass transit next time, dickwad.

Unfortunately, my old 26" Nimbus muni is finally starting to show its age.
The hydraulic rim brakes are getting tired (and seem to confuse every local bike shop), 26×3" tires are getting harder to find, and I just snapped a spoke. Everything is repairable, but it felt like the right time to retire it to winter/backup duty and treat myself to an upgrade.
The unfortunate part? There really aren't many good options for Canadians anymore. Kris Holm still makes incredible unicycles (I absolutely love my KH36), but there isn't a Canadian dealer anymore, and U.S. shops generally won't ship them across the border.
(insert plea for someone to starting selling good unicycles in Canada again!)
So... if I'm already paying to ship a unicycle across an ocean, why not go all in and order a customized one from Italy!?
I ended up ordering a custom-anodized 27.5" from Mad4One (https://www.mad4one.com), and it finally arrived.
The fit and finish are fantastic, and having hydraulic disc brakes on a muni is a huge step up from the old rim brakes. It may just be the honeymoon phase talking, but the 27.5" also seems to roll over roots and rough sections a little more effortlessly than my old 26".
I've had it out a few times on the local trails and it's awesome. Looking forward to actually making out it to the mountains soon!

Ok I’m sure there is a good reason for this, but I can’t think what it is:
Why do the buses on market street pick up by the road and not on the islands where the f picks up? It creates a really dangerous situation for the bicyclists.

Early this morning, the last pull in at Potrero Division before this Muni yard closes for years for a major reconstruction and expansion project.
This facility has been in operation for 111 years. The end of an era!

As I stand in my window watching several #Waymo vehicles occupy the opposite side of my street on a Saturday morning, I wonder just how much they are taxed to crowd the streets of #SanFrancisco - is it enough? (I doubt it, but am willing to be proven wrong)
I hope there aren't too many loopholes, and that we can squeeze them for more #muni funding.

@straphanger our local underground system, #Muni , is still not operating properly. Eastbound services are completely out. Westbound services are running however they’re not picking up passengers!

A 1 second exposure, handheld.Notice there are no trees... which is a funny thing I discovered last night, confirmed by thumbing through the 1500 photos I've posted in the last 3 years. Out of all those 1500 photos, only a dozen or so have significant trees in them. Sure, there's an odd branch or two. But there are no trees.
Am I a monster? An orc?

You have to watch the first three minutes to fully understand how horrifying this is—the train exits the Sunset Tunnel going 50 MPH, easily double the safe limit. The only thing that woke up the operator was the S-curve at the tunnel's exit.
Amazing no one was killed or injured.
