A 1989 Mini City.
The first in what will be a new portfolio I'm working on in the hope that I can make a good presentation for the local art gallery.
I wanted a theme, and that theme is Mum cars, which is why all the asking and voting lately. If you contributed at all then thank you, you're really helping me out!
When I've got enough done, I hope the gallery likes what I have and wants to display it.

I've got a feeling that D reg is too old for that City font, if you're a Mini nerd who knows better, do chime in please.
Wheel trims are off a higher spec car, because this mum wanted her car to have nice wheels instead of the usual hubcaps.

@vulgalour it averaged about 2k miles a year, I killed the gearbox before I passed my test after she handed it down to me 😉 rust and me moving 200 miles to University killed it 😔
The Astra was so good on long runs and around town it became the main family car as Dad retired and didn’t want to run Jags on his own money 😂 he bought a Manta GTE 👌but ended up with the Astra 16v version which I inherited too 😜 -
@vulgalour oh heck how did I forget my Nan’s car … a gold 1977 Opel Kadett Coupe probably the car that most excited me as a kid as I’d sit in it for hours on end pretending to drive 😜
Gramps had a Rover SD1 Vitesse, and Dad had many 4.2 Jag XJ6 but the Kadett just looked so small and funky.

@vulgalour Mum had a Herald for 18 years. It gave her freedom to escape isolation in suburbia and was her pride and joy.
It was followed by an 1.8 Astra GTE with a digital dash!
Then and automatic Astra 1.4 because it was the biggest car that would fit in her now downsized suburban link-detached garage 🤮
Then a fantastic Skoda Fabria to see in the new millennium.

I want to know what your Mum had as her car to get about. Wherever you are in the world, whatever time period. What vehicle did your Mum (or other maternal guardian) cherish and use and wax lyrical about?
I might be planning a little project...
My Mum had a moped, a Honda Cub I think (I'll have to dig out a photo), that was her freedom in the 70s.
