Line 7 of #MumbaiMetro starts at Dahisar East and ends at Gundavali station. It’s nearest to W.E.H. station on the Versova-Ghatkopar line. Connected by a short bridge. I’m rather afraid of another Elphinston Road station bridge incident so please be careful during monsoon.

If you’re asthmatic or have claustrophobia but have to ride the #MumbaiMetro, take breaks, get down at stations in between to take the next one. Exhausting but it might save you an attack. 1hr 7 min in a filthy closed box isn’t a joke and I was in an empty compartment.

I was excited to ride the metro after years of suffering traffic jams & pollution. But it was an exhausting ride made worse by what looks like ramshackle design with no zero consideration for keeping it clean. It’s a closed box. That is a bigger hazard than trains. #MumbaiMetro

You can’t read the notice on the track-side of the gates from within the metro. It’s instructions for emergency exit. And I don’t know who will bring bicycles into a metro too small for the crowd that’ll need to get in. #MumbaiMetro

The metro we rode was very dusty. We don’t notice it on the Versova-Ghatkopar route because it’s just 25 min and there’s a lot of green cover we see outside the windows. But Line 2A passes through such congestion, it was exhausting being in a closed box full of dust. #MumbaiMetro

East on the western line really looks like city of the future, possibly because it was developed later, after years of neglect by civic authorities. Look at these views. #MumbaiMetro

Amazed at how Dahisar East looks posher than Dahisar West (after years of West people being the snobs over East). Posher in the sense of fancy buildings, proper roads and also greenery. #MumbaiMetro

Passing over the railway track and this is where it changes lines though we’re still on the same metro track. Nothing fills me with Mumbai pride more than the trains. And yes, we are a city of slums, not the progress model you’re fed by media & politicians. #MumbaiMetro

Spotted vanity vans & thought we were passing over some shooting but a bai told me it was a pada. This would be past Borivali. No pics as too many residence towers/SRA bldgs. North Mumbai is so badly choked & has been neglected. #MumbaiMetro may be too little, too late.

Line 7 stops exactly outside Infiniti Mall, InOrbit Mall & Infiniti 2 Mall. These places are going to become even worse road bottlenecks than before. Hopefully mallgoers will be more inclined to public transport now. #MumbaiMetro

Here comes the metro! I wonder how the people of this posh building feel now with looking into a public transit station. Pic 3 is the right angle turn at Adarsh Nagar. Last pic is the road down Mega Malls. #MumbaiMetro

I’m glad to see Lower Oshiwara look this spacious in the ticketing area. It was a high traffic bottleneck even before the metro as it has Infiniti mall & connects to the entire Lokhandwala housing belt. Saw one open staircase leading to some machines (?). #MumbaiMetro

I didn’t start at the terminus but I’m told it is connected to DN Nagar (on the 1st line). Instead I go in at the next station, Lower Oshiwara which is just outside Infiniti Mall. #MumbaiMetro

Line 7 on East is connected to Line 2A on West by track. You can buy one ticket across & ride the same metro without switching at Dahisar. You can’t buy tickets for Versova-Ghatkopar line from 2A & 7 stations but they have connecting bridges. #MumbaiMetro

This weekend, I tried the new Mumbai metro line inaugurated last week. This is Line 2A Yellow (DN Nagar to Dahisar East) + Line 7 Red Line (Dahisar East to W.E.H.). It’s two different lines - one on West mostly along Link Road +
one on the East along Highways. #MumbaiMetro
