  1. draft - voice messages for google chat -

"To send a voice message in Google Chat, users must first tap the microphone icon and begin recording. Unlike other apps, users are not forced to hold down the microphone..."

this is the way. the requirement to hold down the mic button on screen is weird / unapproachable especially for some users. so the ability to just tap once to record makes more sense.

please can we have the option for all free users? thank you.

  4. draft -

People need to start using Google Chat and Microsoft Teams. These are modern cloud based messengers which work across multiple devices/multiple profiles/android/iOS/web etc...

    #DeleteSMS

    #friends
    #communication
    #cloudmessenger
    #editmessages
    #crossplatform
    #crossplatformchat
    #multidevice

    rant -

Another hash tag I'd add would be

    #deletefacebook
    #deletewhatsapp
    #deletefacebookmessenger

    And then back to

    #useGoogleChat
    #useMicrosoftTeams

"FacebookMetaInstagram" is a stagnant monopoly. They stifle innovation.

For example, while messages on Google Chat and Microsoft Teams can be edited indefinitely, (an important function for managing our digital footprints), whatsapp gives you a couple minutes (effectively nothing) and while you could delete messages on FB Messenger, you cannot edit them at all.

    Fuck Facebook.

That deal for them to purchase Whatsapp never should have gone through.

  6. sms/rcs sucks. It's not cloud based and it doesn't work across multiple devices or user profiles.

    A random PSA -
a scheduled sms from one user profile on Android will only be sent out when you're logged into that specific user profile. For example, if you schedule an sms for 1pm the next day, and you're not logged in to that user profile by 1pm, it won't send until you do login, and in that case, it will automatically send *whenever* you do login. So for example, you get this type of thing. (Attached)

  7. draft - SMS on android does *not* work well with the android multiuser. that's just one reason web-based messaging is a better solution than SMS messaging. another is multidevice functionality, but even single device multiuser is important.

    #GoogleDocs
    #collaboration

    #email
    #outlook

outlook is a solution over gmail as outlook would be a non-google email client that can be signed in accross multiple users without signing in to all google accounts. so i could say to mother, please email me at this outlook address. but email is so old. it's missing so many of the features of a modern chat platform like telegram/microsoft teams. theoretically, facebook messenger/whatsapp are options/alternatives to telegram/teams but i would prefer not to use them, but i guess i could. i could say whatsapp to mom. which works on some planes.
