Shasta Storm
This picture was taken on one of those magical fall days that you just have no idea what is going to happen or where. I was on a trip driving south out of Oregon. An early winter storm enveloped Mt. Shasta.
Mt Shasta is one of many volcanic peaks in California and is at the southern end of the Cascade Range standing at 14, 179 feet. If you're ever near Mt. Shasta/Weed, CA, be sure to check out the Black Butte Center for Rail Culture. It's really cool, especially for those of us who used to ride freight trains.
I was last there in 2017. One of the not-to-miss sights is the 1926 water tower across the tracks. Dating from the steam train era, there are old hobo tags from the 1930s carved into the wooden base. It's nice to sit there and imagine...
