I posted a 4,500-word run-down on my current favorite #MtGStandard deck -- a blue/white toxic/proliferate affair I'm calling "Poison Burn" -- over at @mtgzone . Check it out if that's the kind of thing you're interested in.

Excited to see people have to reckon with #mtgstandard now that there's going to be an RCQ series for it :p. I love standard! It's great!

If you play Phyrexian Obliterator in any deck, in any format, I hope you are subjected to repeated non-consensual violence.
And no, I'm not even slightly exaggerating.
You are a horrible person, and you deserve all the trauma you get in life.

CW: Magic the Gathering “Revitalizing Standard”
Since Wizards killed their web site’s RSS feed and they don’t have a presence on Mastodon I miss most of their announcements, but a friend sent me a link to “Revitalizing Standard”: https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/revitalizing-standard
It’s an interesting development, but I think they’ll have to be more willing to employ the ban hammer in Standard to deal with un-fun cards rather than keep them around for another year (cough Invoke Despair cough).
And they’ll have to be careful not to have too high a variance in the power level of their sets or else we’ll get the Throne of Eldraine situation again but for 3 years rather than 2.
