Trump Administration Delays Rule Protecting Coal Miners from Black Lung — Again | Truthout (2025-08-20)
>> In April 2024, the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) finalized a landmark rule that cut the allowable level of airborne toxic silica dust in coal mines in half, and required coal companies to provide medical monitoring for black lung. Miners and their allies began petitioning #MSHA for the updated standard back in 2009 ... Experts say black lung is completely preventable and would not occur without exposure to coal mine dust.

It's like every decision DOGE is making is intended to harm people. It may be true that many agencies need some attention but they are vital agencies and gutting them just isn't the way forward. We have been at the mercy of corporate America for decades but at least there was *some* protection when it came to companies putting employees in dangerous situations... That's all disappearing. Cutting MSHA offices is just another step in harming citizens.
