#Economist have offered mixed responses to the notable absence of provisions for High-Speed #Rail (#HSR) & Mass #Rapid #Transit (#MRT) in the 2024 Budget.
One person opined that both HSR & MRT3 will most likely be shelved.
Another opined that both HSR & #MRT3 were left out of the 2024 Budget because the government wants these two projects to be fully financed by private investors and therefore will not involve government funding.

The federal government is not shelving the #MRT3 project, even though it is funding the maiden #LRT project in #Penang at the same time.
Loke, who was appointed transport minister for the second time under the unity government, does not think the government will come under fiscal constraints should it undertake the two public #rail projects simultaneously.
The expenditures on #MRT projects does not fall under #DE (development expenditure) through MRT Corp.
