“Why do we like it so much? The Ark Podcast” ?!!

This sounds like it might have a future 😅 :packetcat_wink:

“Why and how is it surviving when other low budget sci-fi shows are not?” might be the best question — and other than my personal effort here to amplify and get some momentum with Star Trek and Stargate fandom, what’s getting traction?

Perhaps it’s the unrepentant cheesiness of Dr Who, as some have claimed. (Not enough of a a Whovian to catch the homages that others are seeing.)

So far, all I see for podcasting about the show is coverage on the general SyFy podcast. So, any live watch posts here are likely novel content.

But other than a few countries, the distribution outside the US is spread across a plethora of smaller linear and streaming services. In addition to ones I’ve noted already, it’s on Binge in Australia, Sky in Ireland and Switzerland, Universal-Prime in France, M+ in Spain, Canal+ in Austria, and BluTV in Turkey.

Clearly, the younger but dedicated fandom for ‘The Ark’ is talking about it elsewhere and who knows where they’re watching and talking about it. (Not checking for Discord channels, the subreddit has about 2.5K users.). But somehow across all of it, there was enough viewership and fan support to get the show renewed once.

There is a wiki on Fandom but they’re not keeping up with the season 2 releases. the-ark.fandom.com/wiki/The_Ar

  13. How in the hell are we still living in a universe where there is no *complete* replacement for #Mplus?

By now there should be some #rlang code, or even #Python, that takes Mplus scripts as input and just does them. And yet, no.

Everybody I know who uses Mplus says -- with complete seriousness (!!) -- that there are R packages that implement some of its functions, but they still need Mplus to do everything.

    What am I missing? Why?

  18. #AskFedi I'm having difficulty with my categorical LCM-SR models which are stratified by a grouping variable. Even the RI-CLPMs create errors that cannot be resolved. Are there other constraints needed in the model when running categorical RI-CLPMs with a group stratifier? Thank you! #MPlus #Stats

  31. I cannot get my Latent (Hidden) Markov Model which use a single manifest variable (with 4 categorical levels) across 11 waves of data, to run in #Mplus. I've assumed measurement invariance at all time points (via equality constraints), and I also have 1 time-invariant covariate included in the model.

No errors nor output produced. It will however, run through iterations if I run with fewer time points.

Any #FediHelp appreciated! Also open to using #RStats for these models. #FediAsk #Stats
