New paper out today by my #MPIC colleague (and officemate/friend) Sam Nicholson, who looked at the climatic constraints on speleothem deposition in SW Asia - to the surprise of no-one who spends any time thinking about speleothem deposition, it's not straightforward!

After a fair bit of frustration, our new excimer laser is installed! We have it coupled to an Element 2, and new laser plus sector magnet (rather than quadupole) mass spectrometry is a steep learning curve for me. Nice to spend the afternoon tinkering in the lab though.

Hey brains trust, I am facilitating some #ShutUpAndWrite sessions at #MPIC for the next 6 weeks. We are doing 2 hour sessions. I'm planning ten minutes of 'intention setting', 50 minutes of work, then a 10 minute break to chat, then 50 minutes work.
Any suggestions welcome. I've done pomodoros in the past, but found a lot of the group wouldwork through the five minute break.
