  1. Just watched “A Private Life,” a French thriller starring Jodie Foster whose French - to my English ear, anyway - seemed impeccable. More importantly, her acting, as usual, was outstanding. I’m surprised she didn’t receive an Academy award nomination for this role. The plot was complex and clever, and even surprisingly humorous. Highly recommend!

  8. Just on my way home from seeing The Life Of Chuck.
Based on a Stephen King story, adapted & directed by Mike Flanagan, about what's important in life.
Great cast, lots (just the right amount) of trademark Flanagan monologues, and some lovely dreamlike scenes.

    Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I read some reviews calling it a bit hokey, but I think they were written by miserable bollixes.

  9. I do like a good disaster movie. I enjoyed this one - The Day the Earth Caught Fire (Pax films, 1961). Free to watch at archive.org:

    archive.org/details/TheDayTheE

Probably the calmest disaster movie I've seen, an interesting choice not to focus on heroic scientists or heroic first responders but on one newspaper.

  14. "It's almost like stealing people's data and giving it to hyper-intelligent AI as part of an unregulated tech monopoly was a bad thing."

    Almost...

While technically ridiculously inaccurate bullshit this #movie is still #hilarious. And full of references to tech and pop culture that it becomes a sport to catch them all f̶u̶r̶b̶y̶'̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶o̶n̶e̶?̶

It's called The Mitchells vs The Machines, it's older but I only saw it today

Remember Jaws from the James Bond movies? Well, turns out he`s an alien called Kolos, beamed down to Earth to conquer the human race on behalf of the masters of the universe and he speaks. Enjoyable sf-movie.

  16. 🎬😆 Ah, because nothing screams "cinematic genius" like letting your fleeting feelings determine your next Netflix binge. 📱✨ MoodieMovie: for when you're too emotionally unstable to pick a movie on your own. 🙄🍿

  17. Watched Jason Krawczyk's latest film on Tubi this weekend and it's quite entertaining. If you enjoy beat-em-up action, dark comedy with elements of horror, and some legitimately-heartfelt performances, you'll likely love this one. 🍿🙂👍

  24. Without any spoilers, is Bodies, Bodies, Bodies worth watching? I’d have to import the DVD which would cost $20 including shipping (for reference it costs about that to go see a movie at a theater in Japan so it’s not crazy).

Shipping would be the same if I add other DVDs, so any other 2022 movies that are worth seeing? We have to wait forever to have them appear in Japanese theaters or streaming/DVD here.

    Thanks!
