  1. Two “deal with the Blues Devil” movies, two very different problems. Crossroads wants to prove anyone can play the blues but ends up flattening what the blues actually stands for. The Devil Comes to Kansas City, on the other hand, can’t even keep its own rules straight.

  6. Watched "In the Lost Lands" recently. In a post-apocalyptic world (think #MadMax) there's a #witch who fulfills wishes to those who come to her and pay a price.

The "church" is trying to hunt her down while she is trying to fulfill two contradicting wishes: The queen has asked her (the witch) to grant her (the queen) the power of a shapeshifting, while the chief of the "king's" guard has asked the witch to fail the queen in her wish.

Overall, I'd say the movie is great for the dark atmosphere and the brutal, mercyless world it's set in, if you don't care for a sensible story.

    7.5/10

In the credits it said the movie is based on a story by #GeorgeRRMartin.

  8. A meta-horror that wants Wes Craven's New Nightmare’s brain but forgets to build the skull. The Last Showing flirts with self-awareness, trips over its own logic, and wanders straight into themes it’s not prepared to handle.

  9. Crossed Over wanted to be about forgiveness but settled for sentimentality. It asked for empathy without evidence, redemption without reckoning. Even the late, great Diane Keaton couldn’t save this sanctified mess.

  10. Streets of Fire looks like a music video, moves like a cartoon, and thinks like a bar fight. Great songs, killer vibes—and a macho fantasy so outdated it punches itself in the face.
Full review: A rock-and-roll fairy tale that can't decide if it's sincere, ironic, or just plain dumb.

  11. CW: I am so very much confused! First impression of the 🎬 "Kinds of Kindness". ⚠️No spoilers⚠️

I am so very much confused! - And for the longest time I had to pause a film after watching 2/3 of it.

My take for now: "Kinds of Kindness" by Giorgos Lanthimos is somehow artsy and it manages to put you in a state of mind, which makes you wanting to keep watching and knowing what happens next. Even at moments you'd better turn your head, but still keep looking (like passing an accident on a street), as at other parts of the movie being bored.

Lanthimos' film is a nice contrast to those out there, always being happy, loud or with learning purposes or the ones overdoing the artistic approach on filming and editing, while lacking substance or a good story. His methods to tell as to visualise the multiple storylines, and the length of the movie (165 min.), challenges our often nowadays too impatient attention span.

Giorgos Lanthimos was able to portray modern western life, society and aspects you might haven't heard of, in an interesting and contemporary way. - I just can't get my head around the music thing, it feels like we've seen/heard this already in another movie?

"Kinds of Kindness" leaves you constantly (well at least the first 2/3 of it) feeling unease, unsatisfied, a lot of times surprised and very fascinated.

I will definitely resume watching it later this weekend! 🍿🍿🍿

Disc.: As mentioned above, I haven't seen the full movie yet and since I rarely read critiques in advance to be able to stay unbiased, or pay attention to ads, I actually didn't know of this movie before and still don't know the story behind it. One thing I've read so far, that it gets compared to "Natural Born Killers", which makes absolutely no sense at all!
