#Moveapps is looking for a Technical Assistant (m/f/d) proficient in #RStats and/or #Python to improve their #MovementDataAnalytics plattform

TIL that #MoveApps https://www.moveapps.org have adopted @movingpandas TrajectoryCollections as their #Python default IO ๐ https://docs.moveapps.org/#/create_py_app
It's kind of similar to #QGIS Model Designer but in the browser and specializing in #MovementEcology

After over a year and a half of ridiculous hoops to jump through, I finally installed my #Motus tower! Please clap. ๐

Been watching the bats tonight ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ
Reminds me to check how the #moveapps project is progressing

Every once in a while, I stumble over a paper that has really nice figures, that make me curious to learn how they were created
Fiona Lippert et al.'s "Learning to predict #spatiotemporal #movement dynamics from weather radar networks" is definitely one of them
Luckily they provide their plotting code at https://github.com/FionaLippert/FluxRGNN/blob/v.1.1.1/notebooks/radar_case_study.ipynb for all of us to learn from

The folks at AniMove/Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior/University of Konstanz have provided this fantastic, free resource for anyone interested in #movementecology or animal #spatialecology.
Learn about working with movement data, analyzing behavior through movement patterns, recursion, path segmentation, remote sensing, and estimating occurrence and range distribution (autocorrelated home range estimation).

First impression of https://www.moveapps.org (currently in public beta):
Really nice #MovementData processing workflow builder. It's pretty intuitive to start with one of the existing public workflows and apply it to #MoveBank datasets.
A bit like #QGIS model builder in the cloud with some nice extra features.

Recently, I've been talking with the people at #MoveApps https://www.moveapps.org/
Let's just say โBased on community demands and as part of ongoing projects, Python will be integrated next" (quote: https://movementecologyjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40462-022-00327-4 )

Time for a new and improved #introduction now that I've switched to the ecoevo.social instance and know a little bit more about how Mastodon works!
I'm Holly, a #zoologist and PhD Candidate in University College Dublin. I work on the canid (dog) family, using FitBit-style collars to track animal movements and behaviour. Let's connect!
