The stargazing was wonderful, we saw the moon in great detail, Saturn with its rings, Jupiter and several of its moons, and a binary star whose name I have forgotten through powerful telescopes, then our guide used laser pointers to drawn our attention to key constellations and told us how far away the different stars were and what we were supposed to be able to make out. I think those ancient Greeks were taking liberties when they saw a swan or a princess or whatever. The guide was very humorous and had some lovely Spanglish turns of phrase #MountTeide #Tenerife

So we jumped into the car, couldn’t find the next meeting point on the satnav, went the wrong way, pulled out Google maps and drive for over an hour through pine forests and clouds. Some pics here from on the way, and where we parked at the cable car base station #MountTeide #Tenerife

For #FotoMontag and even #MountainsMonday since I saw that passing through the timeline earlier, this is Mount Teide on Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Not only is it the highest point of any island in the Atlantic, it's also Spain's highest mountain, and is also a volcano.
