Long ago I hung around with an #Ásatrú practitioner of Jewish heritage. He taught how to wrench on Triumphs, and whole lot of other stuff of value, too. He was a brilliant engineer, an artist, a draftperson, a poet, a teacher, a history maven, and a good man to have on your side in a confrontation.

Other times he could be an obnoxious flaming asshole.
I miss him.

For a while I rode one of his hardtail conversions (pictured in this article). Like a fool I opted for a Cobra-style seat instead of a sprung tractor seat. Decades later my spine still hates me for it. It was the nimblist bike I ever rode. I could drift it through a right angle turn at 40 mph. Its agility saved my life in traffic more than a few times. It only takes once.
