  1. Decisions, decisions. Ride my #motorcycle before or after washing it? I did the oil change yesterday. Very happy how easy and spill free that is with the #MotoMorini #Xcape. Going to change oil more often, the bike runs sooo smooth again.

  2. Poor bike, no wheels! An empty oil container is the exact right height and squish to support the wheel when removing the axle. Noticed the front brake pads are still okay, but getting thin.

  3. Picking up my #motorcycle from the dealer where she got a service. What I thought was a fueling problem, the mechanic says was resolved by a new distributor. Very eager to try it out!

In an hour or so it's going to be 16C, which is a 22 degree swing from -6 at the start of the week. Glorious!

I planned the long way home (tm) along the dikes!

  4. I haven't posted many #motorcycle pictures lately because winter, so here's an old one of the #MotoMorini #Xcape in the fields somewhere mid England last June.

  5. Changed the oil and lubed the clutch cable of my #motorcycle.

I can't get over how simple changing the oil is on this bike compared to the Ténéré XT660Z where you had to drain from 3 different and awkward points and fill from a fourth, also awkward point.

Lubing the clutch made it feel a 100 times better! But the little doodad mostly leaked and didn't make the lubing process any less messy as it was supposed to do.

  6. Well, this is interesting. And annoying.

The front left blinker on my #MotoMorini #Xcape #motorcycle is broken.

Most of the time it doesn't work, sometimes it blinks once then cuts out and sometimes it blinks fast and erratically.

Checked cables, connectors and voltages. That all seems to be in order. So my guess is that the blinker unit itself has gone. Which is weird for a LED light.

    Contacted the dealer. Let's see...

  7. I parked up my #MotoMorini #motorcycle pretty filthy before leaving on holiday. She had a nice cover and a tank full of E5 instead of E10 though.

A snail started living on the luggage rack while I was gone. Many cobwebs all around.

So yesterday I thoroughly cleaned the bike and went out for a short, relaxed ride to see how my riding skills had held up after 4 weeks of not riding. I was out for nearly 3 hours, scraped the toes of my boots twice and hit the rev limiter a couple of times.

  8. So, today the #MotoMorini #Xcape is going in for its 12K service. The odo is at 15K.

Slight miscalculation on my part how many kilometers I would be doing in the weeks before, after and during the #motorcycle trip to Wales. I thought I'd be 1K to 1.5K over. Good thing I did the oil change and once over before I left.

  9. I am out of words to describe today's ride, photos will not do justice to the paradise we saw today in Netherland, crossing from Kinderdijk along Lekdijk, Kerkweg, Stolwijk...
Thank you Frank 🤗 it was an epic day just like Pedro wrote 😉

  10. What's your favourite #motorcycle chain lube?

My #MotoMorini #Xcape likes to fling off my usual brand and soil herself. Also any rain riding washes off most lube from the rollers in no time.

I used the Louis white lube on my previous #motorcycles and there it would hold much better. (This one: louis.nl/nl/louis-care-ketting )

  11. In other news, I did the first oil change. Apart from having to take the bash plate off, that was really simple and spill free as opposed to changing the oil on my Ténéré.

No idea how to reset the maintenance interval on the dashboard though... maybe I can only reset it after the light actually comes on? I still have 120km to go, but you'd figure there'd be a way to reset the counter whenever you do the maintenance, right?

  12. I'm happy to report that it took me 4000km before I broke my mirror and bent the brake lever. No other damage because I dropped the bike in the softest sand possible from a virtual stand still. The softness of the sand was also the cause of the drop.

Duct tape fix works just fine till I get the new mirror and handle in a week or two. Also arriving two weeks too late: hand guards. 🙃

  13. Well, it was an AliExpress buy, but this dash mount is surprisingly sturdy. Proper metal all around. No manual, so a little weekend project to see if and how it actually fits on the bike.

  14. Fresh and shiny! Rain predicted for the rest of the week, so this will last less than a day.

  15. Had to take the 19yo on an errand as a pillion on the #MotoMorini #Xcape since family car was already taken.

Yeah... I should have added a lot of preload, but we managed on stock settings.

Good test though: I'll need to get a shock spanner and up the preload before attempting to load up for a camping trip.

  16. Not riding my new #MotoMorini #Xcape #motorcycle until next week. The main roads have been cleared and are dry, but icy patches remain. Also, I don't fancy getting the bike out of the garage and getting it to where the street has actually been cleared 🥶

  17. Terry Totem the Meerkat Mascot is enjoying a bit of R&R. Trading in the #Yamaha #Tenere #XT660Z today on which Terry rode 45.000 km. Returning with a #MotoMorini #Xcape and we'll have to look for a good spot for Terry to ride again. #motorcycles

  18. So... I traded in my 2 #motorcycles and got 1 new #motorcycle.

Kinda sad and happy at the same time.

Hope the #MotoMorini #Xcape is ready next week so I can pick it up. It's getting the pannier set, crashbars and bashplate.

  19. CW: All my Motorcycling Yesterdays

Can't teach an old dog new tricks they say.

Or, old two stroke motorcycle racers never die , but they do keep a finger hovering over the clutch lever on any motorcycle.

The last Forgotten Error Morini speed hill climber in final iteration of handlebar type.

Note index finger ready on the clutch lever although it's a four stroke and I have never managed to seize a Morini twin.

    Gone but not forgotten.

  20. CW: All my Mototcycling Yesterdays

How my chronic Morini sickness began.

My first 1975 Moto Morini 350 Strada which I purchased new. Shown during a motorcycle 'gymkhana' at Newlands Corner Surrey as part of an AJS/Matchless OC rally.

Note unsuitably large top box, de rigeur 70's biker boots with buckles worn with sea boot socks and the 70's hair. Also the rear cylinder seems to be smoking slightly!

Never without a Morini for long since then.

  21. @chasteen

If I still had the strength I would love a Moto Morini 1200 Super Scrambler.

    Had a 2008 Morini 1200 Corsaro for a few years. 200 Kgs 140 BHP.

The new Scrambler (there was an earlier version) is only 116 hp.
