  1. I have been at the #powerglitching workshop today at #hackadaeurope ! Pretty advanced topic, I feared I was not up to the topic, but the teacher was reasonably good at explaining and prepared a very convenient testbench in the form of a (very cool) PCB with two #MCU: one is the target (the one to glitch) and the other is the one that controls the power supply to the first one via a #mosfet.

  3. While at MOSFETs, those little fellows here seem to be quite capable to handle LED strips (SSM3K324R) - again, PWM at 3.3V logic level. They should be able to handle up to 1A safe and sound in this setup, I guess. Why are spec sheets always guesswork. Just a real nightmare to solder these… guess I finally need to figure out where to order PCBs with parts already assembled :/

    So schaut es aus wenn ein Mosfet - welches der Temperaturüberwachung und -kontrolle dient - seinen Dienst verweigert, also ausfällt.

    Ich habe selbst die X-3 Serie von Qidi hier bei mir und mich aber selbst lange nicht mehr bewusst damit auseinandergesetzt.

    Allerdings sollte gerade jetzt, wo die meisten Drucker mit geschlossenen Bauraum und höheren Temperaturen und Bauraumheizung daher kommen dieses Thema ernster genommen werden !!!

SONOS, short for "silicon–oxide–nitride–oxide–silicon", more precisely, "#polycrystallineSilicon"—"#siliconDioxide"—"#siliconNitride"—"silicon dioxide"—"silicon", is a #crossSectional structure of #MOSFET (metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect #transistor), realized by P.C.Y.     There are others with junction field-effect transistors (JFET) in the input stage.

    There are yet others with metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFET) [1] in the input stage.

    Idea: find an application for the bizarre possibility of an opamp with insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) in the input stage. This is more stunt-designing than anything practical.

    [1] IIUC, "CMOS" opamps are really just MOSFET-input opamps. I'm not sure why the process technology name is more commonly used rather than the device type as is universally used for BJT and JFET input opamps.

  9. i am turbo impressed with amount of quality publications, application notes etc. #ti / #texasinstruments consistently publishes. they make lots of "convenience jellybeans" (my recent discovery: #tps2114), so in theory they have no business educating nerds to - for example - "avoid common mistakes when selecting and designing with power #mosfet" etc. so, i give credit, where credit is due: thank you! #diy #electronics.

    I need to make a switch which has LOTS of resistance when off, but *little* when on. How can I thread that needle?

    MOSFETs have great on resistance, but they leak a bit much current. I need <1µA.

    Bipolars don't leak a lot, but they also don't conduct enough.

    Both parameters eat into the same property of my circuit from different directions.

    HELP!

  22. Tatsächlich ist einer der gebondeten Drähte am #MOSFET Transistor lose.
    Somit scheint der Fehler der Dieselpumpe gefunden. Sobald der neue Transistor kommt, werde ich diesen in der Elektronik verbauen.

  25. I fixed the mistake with the #MOSFET and didn't even have to turn it on its back. I lost one in the attempt to bend the legs.
    Now the power gets cut when it's over 5.53 Volts. Both LEDs turn off then, but fixing that would require cutting traces underneath the #comparator, which I don't want to unsolder again.
    Time to attach a cable and use it for protecting my #Commodore #C64

  26. Today my new #PCBs arrived. The first is an adaptation of Stefan Wagner's #C64 Power Guard: oshwlab.com/wagiminator/c64-po
    I changed some components to what I had available. Thanks @aislerhq for manufacturing them.
    Only I messed up two small details. The second #comparator is backwards, so the error #LED is practically the same as the power good LED. And I also put in the #MOSFET backwards. I'll try to mount it on its back and rotated tomorrow.

  27. I have a circuit board with 2 leds.

    The LEDs are coming from two mosfets.
    One mosfet for the green,
    One mosfet for the red.

    A NE555 is timing the mosfet gates.
    The green Mosfet is not NOT logic.

    Both LEDs now light up alternating. To the uneducated barbarian it looks like 2 glowing lamps.

    Me, I know they do not glow simultaneously. My oscilloscope says so.

    Not a nerd.

    The LEDs are coming from two mosfets.
    One mosfet for the green,
    One mosfet for the red.

    A NE555 is timing the mosfet gates.
    The green Mosfet is not NOT logic.

    Both LEDs now light up alternating. To the uneducated barbarian it looks like 2 glowing lamps.

    Me, I know they do not glow simultaneously. My oscilloscope says so.

    Not a nerd.

    I am going nuts.
    I have a DC Power supply. I feed a PWM with that. I have two Mosfets, Drain and Source are in parallel with the PWM, but the gates:

    1. Connected to Negative Terminal of the PWM. I can tune a LED (load) just fine (dim).

    2. Connected to the Positive Terminal of the PWM. The LED lights constantly.

    This should be the easiest thing in the book. Why is this failing? I even tried some pull-down R's (1k, 10k) to no avail.

    My thought: Having a Pos-Gate Mosfet and a Neg-Gate Mosfet will turn one led up and the other down, and vice versa.
