April 29, 2026 - Letter to Le Moyne College in support of Mosab Abu Toha - Genocide and Holocaust Studies Crisis Network

    ghscn.org/letters-and-statemen
    ———

    >> We write on behalf of the Steering Committee of the Genocide and Holocaust Studies Crisis Network (#GHSCN), an international network of more than 800 scholars and practitioners in genocide and Holocaust studies, to express our profound alarm at your statement condemning the remarks made by Mosab Abu Toha during his recent appearance at Le Moyne College. Your statement not only disparages an internationally acclaimed, prize-winning writer and witness but also advances claims that misrepresent our field’s basic terms of scholarly inquiry as well as legal distinctions codified in international law…

  6. ****Statement from Mosab Abu Toha in response to LeMoyne College's President's email to students today***** (2026-04-29)

    mosababutoha.substack.com/p/st
    ———

    >> On April 15, I had the honor of visiting and speaking at Le Moyne College. I spoke about my lived experience in Gaza, shared the family trees of those killed by Israel, and read my poems. I also played the actual recordings of Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling that I documented myself while on the ground in Gaza.

    >> This morning, the President of the college sent out an email* condemning my use of the word GENOCIDE when describing these crimes. She claimed that using that word is "antisemitic." She stated that she recognized the "real hurt" that the word caused to Jewish students…

  12. Mosab Abutoha su threads
    (threads.com/@mosab_abutoha/pos):

Yesterday, I shared a post about a four-day-old baby killed by Israel in a terrorist attack in Gaza.
I am sharing this again with further details, devastating ones.
    1. The baby’s name was Watin al-Khabbaz.
    2. As shown in the video, shrapnel tore a gaping hole in Watin’s head.
    3. Watin was killed alongside her father, mother, grandmother, and her five-month-old cousin.

  13. "When you open my ear, touch it
    gently.
My mother’s voice lingers somewhere inside.
Her voice is the echo that helps recover my equilibrium
when I feel dizzy during my attentiveness..."

Durante il genocidio a Gaza, Abu Toha ha contribuito con articoli e poesie a importanti pubblicazioni internazionali come ‘The New Yorker’, ‘The Atlantic’ e ‘The New York Times Magazine’, offrendo testimonianze dirette delle atrocità vissute dalla popolazione civile. Nel novembre 2023, mentre cercava di evacuare con la sua famiglia, è stato detenuto e torturato dalle forze israeliane.

    Can we take a rest?
    Maybe die for a few
    months or years
    and wake up when poem
    is complete,
    when the flowers in our
    garden start to grow,
    their scent luring
    the sparrows into visiting
    our house,
    our house that's now
    a small forrest of rubble.

  24. the only reason israel is killing people

The only reason Israel killed this tragic number of people in Gaza this early morning is because it does not want to proceed to the second stage of the ceasefire deal as planned, because it simply does not want a permanent ceasefire (withdrawal from Gaza and reconstruction.)

    FULL STOP.
Anyone who talks about something else is a LIAR.
