  1. As far as I can understand, the characters 京式
五仁 seem to mean something like "Capital (Beijing?) style five-nut" I guess just describing the filling.

I thought it would say something like "prosperity and double happiness," but I kind of like the pragmatic label of "capital style five nut" – maybe it would be a good tattoo.

  2. My spouse's family has been buying Wing Wah's moon cakes for decades, a tradition we continue. Also, they're good.

Ate some with a good Taiwanese tea from Alishan.

  4. Me gustó, tiene una yema de huevo duro y la textura del centro es como la miel de chiverre pero de fresa. #moonCake

  5. Oh! It's so pretty!

I am so proud of myself for making these mooncakes 😅

    Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 🥮 🍂

  7. #中秋節快樂! Happy #MidAutumnFestival! 🌕🐇 Today we celebrate the fullest #moon of the year! Spend time with your loved ones, gaze at tonight's Super #HarvestMoon, & eat #mooncakes! We got these cute mini ones with egg custard from the Peninsula #Chicago on my birthday exactly 1 month ago; we also have our usual big ones with lotus seed paste & egg yolks. 🥮

  8. Today, my coworker gave me a slice from her #mooncake which has a taro filling. #moonFestival. The outside is #mochi, and the cake itself is small. Fits in the palm ✋ of my hand. Shoulda put something in there for scale. 🌕 😊

The 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese lunisolar calendar marks the #MidAutumnFestival, when families from East Asia gather to enjoy gazing at the full moon 🌕. This year, it falls on September 17.

While the #MoonCake is a shared tradition among many East Asian cultures, others like barbecue and pomelo are unique to #Taiwan.

  11. Yesterday I also bought one mooncake. First time ever trying one of these. I'm sad they don't sell them in my city.

  12. Lol it's #mooncake season.
I bought some - double yolk lotus paste and double yolk red bean. It's terrible, but the tins won me over 😂 I love tins...lmao My favourites are my 2 Bengawan Solo tins with pencils and stickers in.
(As a side note, this year was the first year I ever had nian gao because this shop stocked them, and I loved it!)

  16. After many years of not eating any #mooncake... 🥮😋

How shall I describe it? 'Tis like eating a really thick hopia. 🤪 The filling varies. The one that was gifted to me has egg and some nuts.

Probably the most special* thing about a mooncake is the mold for the ornate design. 👌 Other than the stories, that is. #food #Chinese #MidAutumnFestival
