Last night watched #MontereyPop, the 1968 documentary of the '67 Monterey Pop Festival. And dang, what an experience. I woke up thinking about #JanisJoplin - such energy, like, her studio records are one thing but an actual performance working a crowd? Damn.
Give it a listen, hope your #Friday is starting off well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1zFnyEe3nE #Music -
“This is the love crowd. We all love each other dont we?” | Revisiting this great Andrew Chan piece on #OtisRedding and “one of the most overpowering moments in the concert-doc canon,” which is covered in the #StaxRecords documentary https://www.criterion.com/current/posts/6593-baptized-by-the-light-i-ve-been-loving-you-too-long-at-monterey #montereypop #1960s #music

Bernie Krause of "Beaver and Krause" responsible for the Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music (1968), set up a #Moog booth at #MontereyPop worked with everyone, released a ton of stuff. I have a bunch of these records. I had no idea the Nonesuch collection spent 26 weeks on the classical charts. I believe he lost all of his master tapes in one of those massive Cal fires a few years back.
