#Sunbringer Teil 2 der #FallenGods Reihe von Hannah Kaner einfach ganz großes Kino. #Monstress trifft auf The #Witcher und der zweite Teil der Reihe dreht gut auf für das Finale im dritten Band. Sehr gut war auch, wie die Erzählung aus Perspektiven der einzelnen Charaktere die Geschichte zu gleicher Zeit an verschiedenen Orten vorantrieb und Spannung aufbaute. Normalerweise nerven mich so lange Kamerawechsel, aber hier sind sie sehr flott und kurz gehalten.

I am two issues behind of #Monstress, I have 'em right here in my shelf, though. (My entire pull list stacked up as I was moving apts.) Sometimes this comic feels so slow and like nothing happens, or nothing real happens just a bunch of arbitrary handwavy a-wizard-did-it weirdness. When it's good, it's so good, and I love the art, but the writing only really sparkles when it's about the characters or the relationships between the factions.

I can't get excited about that. Now, I love when the book gets weird and dreamy and uses wild magic and other dimensions and stuff when it does that in service of expressing emotions or relationships or dissociation or a hundred other things. I'm all for that. When it goes "but what is the significance of this maguffin mask! Dun-dun-dun!" as some sorta tension driver, that's when it loses me.
(I have the entire series (so far) in paper so it's not like I'm an anti-fan.) -
all caught up on my yearly dose of #Monstress. So lovely, and Maika is such an asshole, in a way that speaks deeply to me.

I picked up #Monstress Volume 7 today from #imagecomics
If you're interested in #comics but not really into superheroes this is the one
The story is phenomenal. The author built a complex and gorgeous world, the art is amazing, there are sexy lesbians, and even the "bad guys" are compelling characters

#AmReading The Tanglewood Palace by Majorie Liu (perhaps best known as the writer for #Monstress). It's wild how the writing can be just as vivid as the comic book, even without the pictures.

One of the ways this series is amazing is how the story and art will be intricate and awesome and terrifying and then at the same time funny as hell. The way the dialog will be Lovecrafty then vernacular and realistic, the art showing things you've never seen and then very familiar character acting. Sana Takeda's work is so rich. You could reread these issues numberless times and see something new. -

Was just reading #Monstress and while I could do without the violence, I think it's absolutely genius that the name for a wizard cat is a "nekomancer".
