  1. "most respondents were far to the left of their own voting intentions. The distribution of their stickers suggested a very strong commitment to the NHS, action on climate, compassion, tolerance and an end to billionaire power. But many of the same people have voted or intend to vote for Reform, which would deliver the opposite."

    What #Monbiot describes as #RadicalListening in #SouthDevon.

  11. George #Monbiot on how organised waste crime is a huge UK growth industry.

But Monbiot omits how the legal framework drives the crisis. High taxes on regulated landfill create a massive financial incentive to dump illegally, which can be countered only by strict enforcement. But enforcement is negligible.

The result is that curent framework is significantly worse than total deregulation. Landfill taxes are a great principle, but only if enforced.

#Policy "across most of the world appears to consist of allowing “the market” (namely a few huge global corporations) to decide what happens next. There’s another way of putting it. Our governments are leaving a group of ruthless speculators to play dice with our lives"

George Monbiot on the ongoing system breakdown.

(A lot of aspects he is getting, but he is still not there. He still wants to keep the fundaments. If you have any kind of hierarchy and "politics" in a system, you have it fundamentally wrong. The only systems sustainable for ALL people for over 10.000 years in the past, we dug up so far, were ones without any hierarchy, based on some sort of mutual cooperation.)
