  1. Life has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me lately. My mom recently passed away with cancer. I spent several days in Illinois where I am from originally and came back home to South Carolina with "the crud" (a really bad cold). In spite of the circumstances, I was blessed to reconnect with family and old friends. I also put the Meta glasses thru their paces with #Aira and was able to navigate two airports using just the visual interpretation of my agent. That was an absolute rush, as I hadn't flown for quite some time. The day after I returned home to SC, I learned that I have been accepted to the #Monarch Rise Project. I had learned that applications were being accepted as my family and I were dealing with Mom's illness and almost didn't take the time to apply. I'm so glad I did, and look forward to learning more about this lifechanging #Braille technology. Through all of my recent endings and beginnings of life chapters, it has been so refreshing to read my Mastodon feed, to keep up with tech news, laugh at some jokes or appreciate the descriptions of beautiful photography from around the world. I'm grateful for this community and, as always, look forward to staying in touch. Blessings, all.

  7. First sighting of a Monarch this Spring!

I have several plantings of Butterfly Weed (Asclepius tuberosa) for them to enjoy, but mainly to lay their eggs on. The plants are just now starting to bloom.

🦋 It is very relaxing to sit on my porch and watch butterflies. Just had plant native perennials years ago.

🦋 Related: Carrie Haubner, co‑founder of the Queen City Pollinator Project in Kentucky, tagged a Monarch with a lightweight sticker.

🦋 That Monarch was later found at a Monarch reserve in Mexico. That's a 1600-mile trek! Also feeds into useful conservation dataset.

🦋 Protecting their habitat and increasing populations of their host plant is important. Get involved if you can!

  13. Wondering how the tv show *Monarch: Legacy of Monsters* fits in the timeline of the broader ***Monsterverse*** continuity that encompasses several theatrical cinematic features?

This piece by IGN is super helpful but heavy with spoilers.

TLDR (spoiler free) - the show *M:LOM* builds on and weaves in the events of first two, quite grounded, ***Monsterverse*** movies *Godzilla* (2014) and the Vietam War situated *Kong: Skull Island*. *M:LOM* is interstitial, taking place in 2015 and 2017, with season two ending about 18 months before the next 2019 movie.

The later movies are much less grounded, made by different directors and creative teams than the first two movies and the AppleTV series — the movie scheduled for a 2027 release will feature *Space Godzilla*. How Legendary Entertainment will make sense of a franchise where the films and TV shows are so tonally different and targeted to different audiences is yet to be demonstrated.
