    This #Fediverse instance, #NoAuthority, actually runs on #Mastodon as well. And historically I haven't had too much trouble interacting with #nostr users via #mostr or #momostr.

    With the "Cambrian explosion" of clients right now, it's interesting to see how they variously handle the #mostr and #momostr protocol bridges...

    ⏩ #ditto seems to ignore them completely? IDK what it is, but my Momostr follows don't seem to show up on my "following" feed...
    ⏩ #nostria seems to have the best behavior overall, which is to treat these as "basically" like any other Nostr post, but with the awareness that they are bridged from another protocol (although reposts don't work for some reason)

    Some "one year on Nostr" observations:

    💜:
    * Organic, ground-up community building: No "celebrity star-f**king", big drama around follower counts, etc... Just "hey this person seems interesting, I'll follow."
    * Zaps. The ability to make money from social media without intermediaries is absolutely revolutionary.
    * Really cool ideas around what to do with a decentralized, censorship-resistant social graph: Web(s) of trust, service marketplaces like #catallax, etc
    * Interoperability with the only other truly open protocol #mastodon via the #momostr and (when it works) #mostr bridges
    * Independent, timely news sources like @npub1f4uyypghstsd8l4sxng4ptwzk6awfm3mf9ux0yallfrgkm6mj6es50r407@momostr.pink -- still early days, but this model of journalism will become more and more important
    * The memes are, to quote the vernacular, quite "dank"

    * The endless waves of hype over vibe-coding. Bit of irony here that the advocates of a decentralized platform should be so excited over AI systems that are centralized into 2-3 companies?
    * Overton window is pretty far to the Right. Like, outright white supremacists with pretty big followings. But fortunately it's easy enough to mute and move on...

    Yeah this might just be something idiosyncratic about the #momostr bridge... In general I would like to have link previews, or at least have the option to turn on / off link previews.

    Would this behavior apply to all in-line links, or would it just apply to bridges like this?

    I was looking back at the official #mostr and #momostr documentation and realized I completely forgot that you need to follow the relays for content to federate.

    I know both have had outages of their own, so there is definitely a chance that those broke federation/bridging and caused issues. This explains why some accounts I can view across both networks from #mostr, and why for some I can see them from #momostr.

    New #NewYears resolution: leave some #Fediverse instances! There are some instances that haven't been working for a while, so I will be abandoning the following:

    This instance has been down for months, so I haven't been able to make posts. I won't be making a new account to replace this one.

    This instance has also been down for months. This account has been my emergency alt, I will be replacing it with this one.

    By the way, I'm quite sure I've said this before, but I'd highly recommend following @censorshipnews. It's a #Lotide community that should be mostly compatible with #Lemmy, #Kbin, #Fediverse software like #pleroma, #Mastodon, #akkoma, #rebased, and might even even bridge across to #nostr via #mostr and #momostr (I haven't really done much testing to see if it works well or not).

    I post to that community from @[email protected], sharing stories about censorship. You might find them interesting!

    The way the instance-wide mute on #NoAuthority works is I can see your replies and posts but only if I follow you. I asked the admin about it, he says he muted #Mostr, #Momostr and #Nostr because it doesn’t have a system to flag stuff as NSFW so that led to a bunch of nudity and stuff to flood the federated timeline unchecked. I think he had some #CSAM concerns too, I can’t remember.

    @rolle From my experience #nostr seems more censorship resistant than the #Fediverse, which is a plus, but it also seems somewhat clunky and conceptually convoluted in a way that makes me want to stick to the #Fediverse for now.

    It's a great place to make a backup #Fediverse account though because of the #mostr and #momostr #Fediverse bridges. I use my alt on #nostr to let followers who care know if any of my accounts are down or if I migrate instances.

    I need to play around with #Ditto some more. My #nostr account is all set up and does what I want it to now, but my #Ditto feed is missing pretty much every #Fediverse account I follow, even though I can see that content in feeds in other clients like #Iris.
