I found an interesting bug! It's in either iTerm/Terminal.app or in Finder.app

Some hungarian got encoded in non-utf8 and it's now interpreted incorrectly ending up with #mojibake, but the console and the file browser render it differently :)

Notice how the "snake" character ("Gaf" in persian script, I think) moves from left to right.

Gerade mal wieder über einen Fall von @schei_encoding bzw. #Mojibake gestolpert. Das in einem Online-Shop bei einem einzelnen Produkt (und anderen nicht) zu sehen, ist dann schon recht peinlich.

Ein Klassiker nebenbei: UTF-8 als ISO-Latin-1 (oder -15) interpretiert.

It arrived albeit #FedEx fucked up all #umlauts in my shipping address, even in two different ways:

Once they obviously took #UTF8 as #ISOLatin and once they seem to have taken one #8bit charset as another 8-bit charset, probably #ISOLatin1 as #CP850. 🙄 #schei_encoding #mojibake

But at least it arrived! I heard from a keyboard dealer that they stopped sending parcels to Europe with FedEx due to too much packet loss…

#mojibake on Finnish TV: "eivî.." Looks like they tried to truncate the word "eivät" and add an ellipsis after it, but they cut between the two UTF-8 bytes of "ä" (0xc3 0xa4). 0xc3 swallowed the first "." (0x2e) trying to interpret it as a continuation byte, and the equivalent of 0xc3 0xae ("î") was displayed.
