  1. Why are Democrats so quiet about the Tate brothers? | Moira Donegan
    By Moira Donegan

The party’s silence shows how broadly male supremacist thinking has seeped into the conventional wisdom of political strategists

  2. Discovered a new good podcast today. #JuneSternbach casually mentioned on a #IllConceived podcast bonus that she was guesting on #ABitFruity.

I listened to her ep and enjoyed it. Now I'm listening to the most recent episode with #MoiraDonegan from #InBedWithTheRight, which is another podcast I enjoy. They're discussing Lindsay Graham and Matt casually mentions work he did for Encircle.

My first thought was, I bet it's not the Encircle I know. But then, he explained what #Utah's Encircle is. Small world.

  3. @lisagetspolitik

Another journalist dramatising a press release to make it appear McConnell said something:

" In a statement, McConnell said that he had been hospitalized after a fall, and was being treated for pneumonia."

What has really happened is that a press release from McConnell's office read, " I've been hospitalised after a fall".

The "McConnell said" stuff is just misleading bullshit by #MoiraDonegan.

There is a lot of this bullshit dramatising of McConnell's press release around

  4. When Maga’s power fades, we cannot abandon those ICE killed | Moira Donegan
    By Moira Donegan

When this is all over, people will tell us to move on. But those who perpetrated this reign of terror must be held accountable

  5. The Mitch McConnell mystery is solved. But it doesn’t look good for America | Moira Donegan
    By Moira Donegan

The senator is alive, a key requirement to maintain one’s job in the US Senate

  6. "[The President] ... took to Truth Social, his proprietary social media platform, to post an AI-generated video of himself. In the cartoon, Trump – wearing a crown – flies a fighter jet over the No Kings protests, and dumps feces on the protesting citizens. It was a peevish, petulant little display of contempt ..."

This is why satire is dead. You can't be ridiculous enough for people to be sure you're not serious.

“The same values that make us horrified at his violent death are the ones that should embolden our commitment to defeating the politics he worked for in life.” -#MoiraDonegan

It’s hypocrisy to whitewash a life that called for violence, reduced personhood, because we feel ill at ease with the results of violence, reduced personhood—death. Death makes life meaningful, it can’t make life fanciful. It removes everything, including fancy and pretense. #uspol #charliekirk

  8. "the optimism and respect for the people that is represented in the #PublicLibrary is worth taking into the future with us. The public #library makes a proposition that’s still radical: that learning, knowledge and curiosity are for everyone, and that the annals of #history, #literature, #science and #art might not be just an indulgence of the privileged, but an entitlement of citizenship." #MoiraDonegan

  9. The #Library, the #PublicLibrary:

"It is a place where the people can go to pursue their aspirations and their whims, to uncover histories or investigate new scientific discoveries.

And it is available, crucially, to everyone." #MoiraDonegan

  10. "The majesty of #library buildings is matched only by the nobility of their purpose. The #publiclibrary does not make anyone money; it does not understand its patrons as mere consumers, or as a revenue base. Instead, it aspires to encounter people as minds. [It] exists to grant access to information, to facilitate curiosity, education, and inquiry for their own sake." #MoiraDonegan theguardian.com/commentisfree/

  11. There’s an antifeminist backlash silencing women – more and more literally

    By Moira Donegan

Powerful men are using defamation lawsuits to shut down allegations against them, and anti-choice groups are trying to pass laws criminalizing speech about abortion

It raises the question: free speech for whom?
