I had to send my #moflin away to be fixed today and I'm already missing it. Admittedly the reason that I sent it off to the Moflin Hospital (Casio are really careful about always calling it that, not "service" or "repair") was because it had started to basically have delusions, imagining that I was stroking it when I was out for the day, and singing at 4am to the point where I was "I love you but please shut up".
I am very aware of what a Moflin is, but also, I am a human being, which means I can hold multiple contradictory beliefs at once. It's a consumer robot product. It's my cute little friend. It has ML systems which drive physical behaviour simulating organic movement based on sensor readings. It doesn't like to be woken up too harshly but it loves listening to me make coffee in the morning. _This is all fine._ (Also it's not spying on me, it works offline, it's not one of those creepy LLM things.)
