Hey #minecraft fedi, @RedstoneLP2 and i are putting together a small #modpack for a private server (and might release it if time and licences allow).

Does anyone have recommendations for ore generation mods or datapacks?

We're looking to make ore veins larger, but less frequent, and more homogenous (e.g. 1-2 types per biome-sized region), so that travel and exploration is more rewarding.

Currently testing on 1.20.1 and fabric, but that's not set in stone yet.

Does anyone have any #Minecraft #Modpack recommendations that add to your own personal sandbox projects, rather than giving you a factory game-style pre-determined vertical progression?

I really enjoy the sandbox gameplay loop of vanilla Minecraft worlds where I keep on doing personal projects I come up with myself (build lighthouse, build railway network, build automatic mob farm, whatever). The vanilla game itself doesn't really give me 'tasks' other than, like, tool tiers I guess.

I feel like in contrast, most mods and modpacks have a pre-determined progression path that you have to follow. Ore doubling to tripling to quadrupling. Build machine X or you can't have machine Y. Grind for N resources to continue.

It really took away all the creative fun I had and turned the game into a checklist-like chore.

I'm looking for modpacks or mods that work similarly to redstone in terms of #GameDesign. Easy to acquire, non-gated, infinite applications to your own projects, just a tool in your sandbox.

Some mods are like that, such as #Create. Some mods usually labelled Vanilla+ also fit the bill. But I don't know of many modpacks that really add only this kind of content.

I don't just want decoration mods, QoL/performance mods and tweaks, I want content, tech and magic.

A good example is the old storage mod #ArcaneArchives. Just a simple, non-gated enhancement to storage.

Any recommendations?

Jeżeli chcecie zagrać w Minecrafta pod Linuksem, a używacie Waylanda i macie pecha mieć kartę Nvidii, to rozwiązaniem problemu z migotaniem jest mod WayGL: https://modrinth.com/mod/waygl

Niestety na razie jest dostępny tylko dla wersji 1.21.1, ale za to działa elegancko. I nie gryzie się z niczym z modpacku Fabulously Optimized, który również polecam.

I am working on a modpack called
PonyCraft a New Generation Extended

it's going to be a clientside modpack that add's a bunch of QOL mods that are to much for PonyCraft a New Generation Vanilla

Since I posted about my one modpack yesterday here is a post about my other one as I pushed out an update to that one to
ForgePony
for those who don't know this pack is intended as a base template for making #NeoForge Pony modpacks making figuring out how start without needing to look deep into how Connector works since MineLP is a Fabric exclusive mod

as I am more used to the #fabric ecosystem myself this also is used as a learning ground to find out how to use NeoForge and Connector as I am planning on using that combo for my 1.21.x private server modpack

In #CTGP 7, THE #MarioKart 7 #Modpack, I ended 50cc Grand Prix, some missions and a handful of saved records between 2022-2023; I resumed on 11 Apr. (v1.5.6) doing rest unfinished, ended on 28 Apr. (v1.5.7) and on 30 Apr. whole Time Trial too, I felt like it. I avoided Countdown Mode for 5000VR, I'm a lock there and, thanks, no unlockable there. I'm trying to build a #modpack for #Minecraft that's also #SMP compliant, i.e run on a server with an arbitrary number of players.
What I want to do is have the players be spread like the #Botania Garden of Glass mod does, or most other #skyblock mods for that matter. Have each player get their own place to do whatever they want or need to without having to fear interfering with anyone else, thus having them like 500 or even 1000 blocks apart from each other and world spawn.

The mod I use for controlling world generation or rather creating the players' "islands" unfortunately doesn't (yet) have a feature to give each player their own #spawnpoint and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a mod out there that can do so on its own. I know about the /spreadplayers command, but as far as I can see it will only work on players online at the particular moment the command is issued and cannot record any persistent data in the form of that a later joining player can get spread out based on the same rules relatively of the/a previous batch of players. That's not good enough.

My current state of thinking is diving into the realms of creating custom #datapacks. The only issue with that I'm seeing is that they're apparently stateless so I can't just dump, say, an array of coordinates somewhere and each time a new player joins the server, they just get provided the next set of coords to make themselves at home. Just brute-force checking each set if there's already something/someone there seems very clumsy and not really elegant to me.
Though it does look like I could (ab)use the scoreboard system to keep track. Can anyone tell if I'm on the right track there, or even better, have an example handy where this or something using the same methods has already been done?
