  1. GR vs MOND - not competing theories, both emerge from 7D geometry.

    New paper: Kaluza-Klein reduction splits into GR (metric) + MOND (scalar sector).

    7D Einstein-Hilbert → Einstein's equations + AQUAL.

    Prediction: lensing = dynamics. Testable.

  2. Galaxy clusters break MOND. They need ~1.7× more mass than predicted - modified gravity's biggest problem.

    New paper: the enhancement comes from geometry. Hot plasma activates extra coupling channels (3 vs. 1 in cold galaxies).

    √3 = 1.73. Matches data: 1.69 ± 0.39.
    Predicts zero hydrostatic bias - testable with X-ray + lensing.

  3. New preprint: The MOND interpolating function derived geometrically from 5D spacetime.

    Gravity = Newtonian component + Hubble-scale 5th dimension, adding in quadrature → ν(x) = √(1 + 1/x)

    Tested on 175 SPARC galaxies. Lower χ² than both "simple" and "standard" MOND formulas.

    No dark matter. No free parameters beyond a₀ = cH₀/2π.

  4. Serena Giardino is a PhD student in the “Quantum Gravity and Unified theories” department.

    Her work focuses on understanding the true nature of gravity. The standard model of cosmology, based on Einstein’s general relativity, provides an accurate picture only by postulating the existence of dark matter and dark energy. She explores modified theories of gravity that might explain the accelerated expansion of the universe without resorting to dark energy. She tries to understand the cosmological implications of going beyond Einstein’s theory, for both the early and the late universe. Since she started her postdoc, she has also been working on lensing of gravitational waves and how it can be used for testing modified gravity theories.

  5. This #astro review paper seems to be quite interesting: arxiv.org/pdf/2501.17006
    Everything you want to know about #MOND. I had a very nice chat with the second author on Tuesday and enjoyed the open-minded discussions on the overlap of dark-matter and MOND phenomenology.
    Enjoy reading!

    Is the Skordis & Zlosnik idea just "baroque dark matter" or is abandoning locality necessary to get rid of sth we only have indirect evidence for?
    What do you think about the paper?

  8. For all of you who are stuck in cold dark winter weather, have a look at this workshop starting in about 15 mins, focussing on the bright side of the cosmos: does #cosmology need #darkmatter ? I am curious about the status-quo!
