An update for my #TOS #Enterprise #model project. Coming back to decals en mass now that I've taken a break of sorts.
There are the three major steps to adding the decals, as it turns out.
Step 1: Plan it all and cut it out.
Step 2: Soak the decal in water until the decal losens from the paper.
Step 3: Using the reverse tweezers and brush, slide the decal from the paper to the model off and carefully reposition with brush.

Did a lot of measuring for //s as the plaster set up. This was crucial and took a lot of patience.
You had to go into the project being OK if things fell completely apart at this stage.
But I think it turned out pretty well. Here's two more shots of how it worked out.
Taking the above in concert with "having to slow down to do creative detail work that was good enough just because one wants to do it" means this has been great #CPTSD #trauma #therapy as well.

Round-Mound of Let-Down
The saucer is a mess. My base coat was messed up b/c I had streaks of white on my brush from messy mixing (7). I need to paint the deck below the bridge (5) a slightly different shade than the main saucer. Want to set it off ever-so-slightly.Finally, I need to do something with the bridge (6). Painting it transparent yellow on the inside has been disappointing.

Closeups of the Bussard collector schema I'm going with.
Tried to do a light yellow & red swirl on the inside of the cap.
The turbine is painted right transparent red on the inside of the clear plastic with metallic blue on the outside fins.
The endcaps are gonna perhaps be lightly frosted. Hoping for a blend of the two of the caps in the middle in the tray photo.
