  9. If anyone from the #EU powers that be is listening, please, for the love of god, roll back the utterly brain dead speed limit #car regulation (#ISA or #IntelligentSpeedAssistance). Was this something lobbied by #Mobileye to get their tech everywhere? It’s probably the worst car regulation I have ever seen and is basically just a constant nuisance for drivers. Possibly even worse than the equally poorly thought out #GDPR cookie regulation.

  10. Israel's Mobileye CEO urges that Netanyahu be replaced immediately

Amnon Shashua said Netanyahu's government was guilty of "failures, dissonance and incompetence" since Hamas gunmen crossed from Gaza in a deadly rampage of southern Israeli towns on Oct. 7.

"We must cut our losses and do it quickly. The only solution to the current situation in Israel is to replace the government, and it needs to happen immediately," Shashua wrote.

  11. @CrackedWindscreen @takeitev Put simply, from #VW's perspective... why not?

    Just look at #Cruise.

Kyle Vogt is out there acting like a goddamn free agent with public safety.

No question #Musk will also exploit that soon.

And #Mobileye, from a recent investor presentation, has made it abundantly clear that they are jumping on the same safety-deficient bandwagon.

I see nuggets from Professor Koopman on LinkedIn - and he is just beside himself.

    I am as well.

  12. @CrackedWindscreen Oh. That is another thread I have on the backlog.

    #Mobileye.

Or rather what they told investors at a recent presentation.

I think that I saw Colin Barnden cover it at the time… and he was livid (rightly so).

(I really wish Colin was over here.)

  13. @mimsical Let me just say that I have never heard a remotely convincing argument yet as to why #ADS cannot be regulated with almost the exact same processes that commercial aircraft are.

That is not necessarily to disagree with this take from #Mobileye, but it is a higher level observation of mine.

No, the #NHTSA is not capable of that type of rigorous oversight (from a skill sets perspective, at the very least), but that fact does not invalidate how the regulatory processes ***should*** be.

  15. @CrackedWindscreen I have a thread coming up on a recent #Mobileye investor presentation, in fact, that will support my point.

Mobileye, now having to satisfy investors, is going "all in" on their own flimsy safety justifications to crank out a structurally unsafe product to consumers.

    Race to the bottom.

  16. Actually, tomorrow, I think that I will do a thread on the Night and Day differences between partial automated driving systems (#Tesla #Autopilot, namely - but applicable to all) and flight automation systems.

Having worked on the latter previously in my career... I think that it is common that laypeople see both as effectively equivalent, dangerously so.

Then, I will get to #Mobileye later this week... as there is quite the systems safety issues there.

  17. Tomorrow, I am going to be picking apart a recent #Mobileye investor presentation.

Holy hell, is that going to be a doozy.

This industry is starting to scare the hell out of me.
