i'm gonna do a little experiment today. I will leave my phone off Wi-Fi for the whole day to see how much data i use.
I have a Unlimited plan since the beginning of this year, and i get 20GB/Day of which i can fill up again with 2GB at the time via their app. (I have Vodafone)But when i'm at home, i'm on Wi-Fi anyways, so that does not count my dataplan so a lot goes actually to "waste".
Maybe i'm going to do this the whole week, maybe only today. I'm curious on how many data i actually use with it.
I even found a app that measures your data, and its FOSS. Awesome!
I will report back once i have the data.

Today, signing into the Wi-Fi network in Walmart required receiving a 6-digit code through email for "security". Receiving this email before it expires after 15 minutes requires a cellular subscription. If they're requiring guest Wi-Fi users to already have cellular data, why even offer guest Wi-Fi?

chain user_post_forward {
type filter hook forward priority 1; policy accept;
ip ttl set 65
ip6 hoplimit set 65}
put that in /etc/nftables.d/10-custom-filter-chains.nft on OpenWrt and your hotspot may stop accounting your traffic as "hotspot" traffic. in case you're metered separately for hotspot.

Anybody know of any long term (18/24 month pre-paid data SIMs (e.g. 10-50gb per month for single £50-75 payment) going cheap at the moment. Preferably not on 3.
All the cheap Scancom ones on Amazon are on 3.

Is there an eSIM/SIM provider for #mobile data that has good prices in all of #EU and #Switzerland? I am looking for something for our company for on and off data usage in different countries.
Also looking for something like that world wide.

It's incredible to see how much mobile plans have improved over the past 7 years! Back then, I was paying €15/month for a 2-year contract that included 3 GB of data. Today, I'm only paying €7.50/month for a 2-year contract with 15 GB of data. Not only is the price significantly lower, but the data speeds have also increased dramatically. Half the price for five times the data and improved performance – that's truly impressive.

I work in an area that has a lot of radio interference (secure facility all staff wears a duress alarm). It's particular, every evening as the sun begins my mobile data degrades to the point where I can no longer stream music, podcasts, etc. Any ideas why this happens?

Does anyone have any tips on unlimited mobile internet access in #Brazil, I am there for 3 weeks and am a heavy user of #mobile #data for all kinds of things, so I would like to be able to continue my routines without suffering to much.
I don't mind paying up to 200 USD for maybe 300 GB, high speed. I need higher bandwidth than 5 MBit/s what I read everywhere.Surely there must be something I am missing, right?

An investigation by Analytico has revealed that data disappears from Cell C SIMs connected to a 4G network even when mobile data is disabled.
Analytico performed separate tests for disappearing airtime and data with SIMs from all four major network operators in South Africa.
The SIMs were inserted into identical Nokia 5 devices.
These devices run a near-stock version of Android and provide easy access to settings to disable mobile data use for all apps.
Mobile data use is also disabled for individual apps, and the devices are also connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection to provide alternative Internet access for any necessary services.
This latest test by Analytico shows that Vodacom may have made changes that prevent end users from being billed for internal signalling, as the Vodacom balance also remained constant for the whole period. Only the Cell C SIM lost data over ten days, while the rest of the SIMs kept their original balance.
Very interesting, as obviously Vodacom had a similar issue, but they seemed to have zero-rated their portion of the data. This is especially painful for the poorer subscribers, who can anyway only afford a little data.
See Data worth thousands disappearing from Cell C
#technology #southafrica #CellC #mobiledataVodacom appears to have finally fixed its disappearing data problem for devices on its 4G network. Cell C has not.
