The Middle Bay Lighthouse in #MobileAlabama more or less as it originally looked when built in 1885. It's still standing but the lantern was removed decades ago.

Among my favorite subjects is #lighthouses like this one from #Alabama near #MobileAlabama - this is Sand Island Lighthouse at sunset. Apparently when it was built there was an island large enough for a keeper's cottage and for cows to graze. Today not so much but the state has worked to preserve what's left and there are private groups trying to raise funds to restore the 1873 light.
