  1. I remember a time decades ago when NSW was considered a police state where crooked cops was a systemic problem. It doesn’t look like it has changed much. Worse, the police now tramples on common law rights…

“The October 2022-enacted digital evidence access order regime provides that police can obtain a DEAO when executing search and crime scene warrants, and if the subject of the order refuses this, then it’s an offence carrying up to 5 years prison time. And as the section containing this criminal offence notes, this measure overrides the common law right against self-incrimination.

However, once NSW police officers have obtained access to a suspect’s phone, they don’t simply scroll through the owner’s latest social media posts, as rather, they employ a device and software developed by Israeli digital forensics company Cellebrite that once connected to a civilian’s phone downloads its entire content, including all deleted messages and images.”

How good are ‘panick buttons’, those that wipe a mobile clean as the push of a button? Not that I’d necessarliy consider it on my mobile, but you never know, right? I can’t see Police powers being roled back anytime soon, quite the contrary, expansion of those powers seems inevitable while #Minns is in charge.

Dodatkowa warstwa ochrony: Wszystkie aplikacje mają wyłączone śledzenie, dostęp do lokalizacji i Siri.

  3. Ich versteh nicht, was alle haben. 🤷
GrapheneOS läuft bei mir einfach. Alles.

  4. Friendly reminder
Your keyboard touches every word before any app does.

Gboard processes most typing locally, but still collects usage data and sends info when cloud features are enabled.
Open source keyboards like FUTO, FlorisBoard, and Heliboard keep everything on device and are easier to audit.

    Privacy tools don’t solve everything.
They reduce risk and improve defaults.

  8. CW: Is your device active listening to you?

It is often discussed if google/apple/huawei/Amazon/etc are actively listening in on your conversations in order to target ads for you. It has mostly been dismissed as paranoia.
But now Cox media claim that they have an ad system that does exactly that using voice data from before mentioned companies. They call it Active Listening.

If this is the case, the companies will have a lot of explaining to do
