Reading the #mntre forums hoping that this simple act will somehow affect the flow of time in the universe and make it so my #mntpocket ordered in january will be ready and shipped sooner. Next step might be thoughts and prayers at this point.
Yes, I am very much looking forward to this. But I think I will need to wait a couple of more months.

@pertho @technicolour__dream That looks a lot like a Linux command. :-)
I think you may want to buy a laptop from @mntmn running Linux. :-)
You have to be cool with the walled garden approach where you just say yes and don't ask too many questions if you stick with Mac. Their model is to make it nice by controlling the experience by removing user choices. #mntre

I just spent an unreasonable amount of time trying to figure why real-time clock, sound, and power-off on my MNT Reform laptop with A311D SOM did not work any more after updating the kernel to (a custom build of) #Linux 6.12.
It seems that the Device Tree file shipped with the upstream kernel is outdated. Using the Device Tree from MNT (https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-debian-packages/-/blob/main/linux/meson-g12b-bananapi-cm4-mnt-reform2.dts) got everything working again.

Have you heard about MNT Reform Next? Incredibly cool open hardware laptop project. I have just backed it on CrowdSupply. https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/mnt-reform-next

My #mntre Pocket Reform got a new leather bottom pad added tonight to help keep it from sliding around too much during use. I think it looks pretty sharp. Can’t wait for it to get some patina.

I'm playing with the thought of replacing the trackpad of my #touchbook cf52 with the #mntre reform #trackball. All the time with thinkpads... I just don't like trackpads anymore.
Did someone do something like that before?

Good evening,
Would a #mntreform be a good candidate for a next-10-years development rig (ranging building nixos images to react apps to python to rust to c++ to ruby-on-rails) ?
Benchmarks put the RK3588 at about a 33% increase over my current i5 7200U, but within the same price range there are other newer intel or amd based systems with somewhere to 600% increase in perf…
Interested in an ARM system for a long time and really sold on the reform repairability (esp. the batteries) and upgrade ability, but I’d like this to be a quasi exclusive daily driver (except gaming) and justify the ~2k€ price tag

MNT Research's pocket laptop is a device I'd really make use of, for lots of things. I'll probably never be able to afford one, though (but I understand the pricing). I do love that they exist - the devices as well as the company - and all too often I imagine a life in which I do this kind of work myself, in some capacity.

✅ layout changed to AZERTY-FR so it could be used by my family
✅ #QMK up and running, because I love layers and sticky keys. Although backlight support needs more work before I submit my port.
