After 4 months my custom etched copper back plate of my @mntmn Pocket Reform slowly started to form a nice patina. Really curious how it will develop further #mntreform #mntpocketreform

Look at this cute chonk! I just received my purple #mntpocketreform from @mntmn and its awesome. As open source as a laptop can probably get (down to firmware and hardware schematics!!) and built so well that I'm afraid I might damage the floor if I ever drop it.

Did some note taking at a Wikimedia event this weekend. The #mntpocketreform is such a conversation piece… "Oooh, what is that, it’s so cute, can I touch it?" - "Sure! Have you heard about Open Hardware?“

Today is my birthday. For the last year or so I've been saving up slowly for a #mntpocketreform computer as it's been my dream for a while to get a computer from the wonderful people of #MNT. It was my plan to order it on my birthday and I essentially have the funds mostly ready but I feel like I would need a tiny bit more to cover shipping, taxes, and other surprise fees. A month or two more of saving would probably cover it, but ordering it on my birthday sounds like a lot more fun.

So, if anyone wants to help me out a little bit one can find my music on bandcamp under a pay what you want model with very low minimum prices.

I never found interesting updates via fwupd before getting to use it on an MNT Pocket Reform.

Now every system controller or keyboard controller update mentions features I know about in the update description; some do fix bugs I experienced (like the previously unreliable battery status information several months ago).

Open hardware with free firmware is the best case for such things.

Due to ill, had a quiet couple of hours playing OpenRA on the #PocketReform. Playing Dune 2000, it pulls the assets off the disc image beautifully, and lets me play the missions with the video briefings. John Rhys-Davies is, as always, magnificent.

Not all the single player missions are supported, they have to be rebuilt for OpenRA. List of supported missions are here:

Game plays great on the screen size, and very playable with the tiny trackball. Reasonable way to kill a few hours while keeping the cats company through the loud bangs outside.

RK3588, pull OpenRA down from source and build. Launch with "SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland" initially to get past the first screen and then you no longer need the flag.

@opensourceopenmind @hellomiakoda ooh I knew about #MNTPocketReform and the possiblity of adding phone-stuff (as well as any other stuff under the sun and above it) but what's #GOnnect? 👀

@hellomiakoda Perhaps consider #Librem5, #LibertyPhone, or #MNTPocketReform with #GOnnect...? All of them should connect to Ethernet but they're ARM devices, not x86-64.

To maybe make this a bit helpful:

I can attest that https://github.com/offici5l/MiUnlockTool works for unlocking XIAOMI phones on Linux, even on ARM (provided you have fastboot installed from the distro in native aarch64) - did this on my #MNTPocketReform. You'll need a Mi account, still, but at least you don't need to touch MSFT WNDWS.

(Worked instantly on xiaomi-davinci, xiaomi-surya will have to wait until October 3rd, 10:00.)

On the way back from #RC2014Assembly. Been a good day talking to folks and may have brought back a few things. Since they frown at soldering on the train, working on something for next time with the #mntpocketreform.

New toys day from #mnt for the #mntpocketreform. Replacement lid, processor and wifi upgrade. Also picked up the keyboard to try.

Currently: mostly aching...

About to tinker with upgrades for more modern tech (larger batteries in #MNTPocketReform; CM5 and other things in #uConsole)

Hmmm, what shall I do first? I could start building my MNT Pocket Reform or maybe try to deal with the horrors form the Cult of Cthulhu either by card or by board ...
