"This is the first systematic evidence map to investigate the role of the normal and intended use of food contact articles in the contamination of foodstuffs with #microplastics and #nanoplastics #MNP's," explains Dr. Lisa Zimmermann, lead author of the new study and Scientific Communication Officer at the Food Packaging Forum. "Food contact articles are a relevant source of MNPs in foodstuffs; however, their contribution to human MNP exposure is underappreciated."

  5. Levels of microplastics in human brains may be rapidly rising, study suggests

"The exponential rise in microplastic pollution over the past 50 years may be reflected in increasing contamination in human brains, according to a new study."

"The human body is widely contaminated by microplastics. They have also been found in blood, semen, breast milk, placentas and bone marrow. The impact on human health is largely unknown, but they have been linked to strokes and heart attacks".

  7. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/

    >The brain samples, all derived from the frontal cortex, revealed substantially higher concentrations than liver or kidney, at 3,057 μg/g in 2016 samples and 4,806 μg/g (0.48%, by weight) in 2024 samples, ranging as high as 8,861 μg/g.

You know, this is one of those times where I hope peer review finds out that they messed up somehow. The technique they employ (Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) is apparently relatively novel, so... fingers crossed?

If you’re in BC, and your MLA is NDP, I suggest you write them and ask why Energy Minister Josie Osbourne (Mid Islands-Pacific Rim) lied to her fellow MLAs and the media about hearing of the #EdisonMotors grant scandal, how #MNP is not only being paid to administer programs but then “advises” for a 20% cut plus fees which further drains the public purse for this huge company at the cost of the taxpayer and homegrown businesses.

I support the NDP and Premier Eby but this is a bad look.

  10. Someone who thinks he can hide by being nameless and faceless, in response to my toot about #MobileNumberPortability #MNP in the #Philippines, this person goes on to say:

    ⬇️
    > First of all, taiwan is a country. Secondly, is this sarcasm? Like are you aware that what #duterte did to innocent people outweighs this little surveillance card?
    ⬆️

Taiwan? Surveillance card? What's that got to do with anything that was said?

Sarcasm? Weeell, if you must* point it out, you're not good at it.

    Hush. 🤫

  11. Dass wir Menschen eine Flut an Plastikmüll produzieren, ist traurige Realität. Neue Studien zeigen: Kleinste Plastikpartikel lagern sich sogar in unserem Blut und Magen ab. Und zwar nicht zu knapp.
