Around the ocean, the archive: Trinidad (Cuba) -19-
Opening a new archive box from my « Streets around the ocean » project.
Welcome to Trinidad#phone #cabine. A scene which doesn’t exist anymore at home.

Card 5-D: Captain America vs. Red Skull
This can't have been the "hottest" or "kewl-est" rivalry to be featured on a card in 1992, but I appreciate that it was included.

Card 3-D: Wolverine vs. Sabretooth
I like how this one is almost like a reversed, zoomed ou version of Uncanny X-Men #213 on the back. Though Jusko apparently doesn't like to paint Wolverine's mask.

Card 098: Ultron
John Buscema was a big influence on Jusko, with this card serving as a tribute of sorts to him. Like Venom, not terribly dynamics, but there's an elegant simplicity to it.
-
Card 089: Sleepwalker
Either Marvel thought Sleepwalker was going to be a big hit, or wanted him to be, cuz he got a pretty big push, at least via trading cards.
Like the "climbing out" perspective on this one & the texture of the background.

Card 080: Red Skull
Great Red Skull. Captures his menace and sort of mad science vibes (the flash of lightning is a nice touch) w/o using any of the usual iconography. -
Card 078: Sabretooth
One of my all-time favorite Sabretooth cards. I don't mind the contemporaneous Jim Lee suit, but I'm glad Jusko got to use the original one, as it fits the overall image better.

Card 069: Northstar
I quite like these #AlphaFlight uniforms, though heavily-uniformed characters tend not to trading card as strongly.
I'll defer to the Canadians as to whether that skyline is meant to be a specific one.

Card 066: Professor X
Xavier has yet to have a really standout card. This certainly ain't it.
The red box above his head was supposed to read "Danger Room", but it was overlooked by the production department.
-
Card 063: Nick Fury
After Dirty Harry.
Probably my fav Nick Fury card yet. Given that his most visually interesting aspects (eyepatch, gray temples, cigar) are all on his face, doing a closeup makes a lot of sense.
-
Card 031: Human Torch
Another standout of the set, with a striking layout and bristling with energy.
-
Card 010: Adam Warlock
Great Energy on this one. More fun with the difference between the first appearance and the first cover appearance, too.
