I was delighted today to be present at the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the cillín (children’s burial ground) in Gortnagrough near #Ballydehob. This large site was used up to the early decades of the 20th century. It also contains a separate area where adults, chiefly victims of the Great Famine, were buried. Well done to everyone in the Ballydehob Community Council, particularly William Swanton and Tim McCarthy, for their work at this site.
